So, is this game a snapshot of things to come against real competition?

If last night's win was a snapshot of things to come......I will take about 20 more snapshots please!

No doubt, ND was a borderline top 25 team, why are people freaking out? We won the game and for the most part kept the lead from start to finish. Every time they made a run, we responded. What more can they do?

If anyone invokes the name of a certain 7'1 player, this thread will be summarily executed.
Chief- "Im going to pistol whip the next person that says Woodbury"
Mac- "Hey Farva whats the name of that 7 footer on the Iowa team"
Farva- "You mean Woodbury"
Mac- "Oooohhooh" holds out pistol

I love this team and think it will be a fun season. The one thing I would like to see the team do is bury the opponent when they have them down. We had Nova and Notre Dame down by double figures and let them both come back and take the lead on us. Hopefully they can learn from this and finish teams when they have the opportunity to do so.

I agree when it's a team we should finish. Nova and ND are both very good teams. They are going to stay in the game. It's hard to put quality teams away. The key IMO is to weather the storm when it comes and get the win. I think losing to Nova and the way we lost helped us last night to get the win. The guys are learning and improving like Fran's past 3 teams did...should be playing their best ball in March.

It's not real pretty yet but we are winning. Don't have a identity yet but that might be a good thing at times. With so much depth coming off the bench we get the guy in their with the hot hand. We need to establish an inside game or else we will get our Arsses handed to us in "real competition" We made Sherman for Notre Dame look like an All-American with a career high 29pt. He's a big guy at 6'11 250lbs. + plus but we'll see more inside guys like him allot. Also 23pts. from their guard Atkins who averages 15pts. and had a season high last night also.

Sherman had a big game because our emphasis was to take away the 3. He's a solid player. He's a senior. He was having a very favorable night...balls bouncing around on the rim and dropping. I'm willing to let someone have a big night if that's the strategy that results in the win.

I think at one point last nite Gabe was trying to explain to him he was out of position. Good news is Gabe knows what good position is now
Absolutely. I've been very surprised at how poor Uthoff's defense has been this season. Watch him when we are in zone and his poor rotations are consistently leading to open shots. Uthoff's half court offense is going to be needed if this team wants to compete for an upper big ten finish and I think Fran realizes this and is willing to let him play through his mistakes on the defensive end.

Iowa has an identity....Anyone can score 20-30 on a given night. The bench/depth on this team is a strength. I prefer to have a few hot hands shooting the ball instead of one superstar. When the go to go has an off night it is a long night.
