Question: Our Oline is refusing media requests - What gives?

Heard that Scherff was requested at the post game interviews and declined as well as the week before. Apparently, no oline people have shown for the press conferences over the past few weeks.

Anyone know the backstory?

maybe they just don't want to, they'd rather celebrate with the team. If I were a player, I'd think those interviews were a pain the the neck

If Scherff talks the way he plays, its probably a good idea he doesn't talk to the media. He doesn't strike me as the guy who would be afraid to say what is on his mind. That might be something that KF doesn't like.

First of all Scherff is gone and if he isn't he needs his head examined. While I would love to have him back because he's a big time difference maker, you don't turn down the automatic millions.

Second of all, remember in 2002 when on senior day the entire offensive line came out to a standing ovation? I think those guys have pride as a unit and don't want all the attention on one guy. They've been pretty great all year.

While I tend to agree with you about taking the millions. It did work out OK for Gallery when he came back. NFL is a whole different world than collage

Brandon is a humble and well-spoken kid. He speaks to the media just as if he were KF. Please.

Sure, but you can get hurt. I'd love to be wrong, but you can't tell a kid to turn down that opporunity to "get better." And you can always go back and finish school.

Definitely think its a combo of not wanting the nfl question and the group unity aspect. The entire offensive line, not just scherff has been declining for the last few weeks.

Sorry Mr. The Boss...but it's not the no-brainer you make it out to be...Scherff is expected to go anywhere from 20-24 from what I've seen and while it's nothing to sneeze at, there's a HUGE difference in bank if you can work your way into a Top 5 pick by staying another year. While that isn't guaranteed, neither is a career ending injury if you stay.

I'm sure Kirk will sit him down with people "in the know" and everyone, including Brandon, will make the decision that's best for him. Either way, it's a win...for him and the program.

I was speaking to his aggressive style. Which is a huge plus and I personally love watching him play. But then again, you know more about Iowa sports than anybody in history so I apologize for speaking an opinion that doesn't align with yours. Please forgive me. Please don't ever stop posting your humble, respectful, intelligent facts.

As for Scherff leaving early, people need to recognize that if he isn't the best OT of the KF era, he is extremely close. NFL scouts love him.

Not everybody feels the need to get in front of the camera or tape recorder (then, there's DJK).

Maybe these guys just prize the unity they have and like to stay as a unit. I think that would be pretty cool...and rather refreshing.

The team has been instructed to only let james morris speak to the press, and tell his heart warming story.

Scherff was projected much higher before he got injured....Now he can come back and prove he belongs in the top ten.

Right. That cap link was worth the thread. Thanks.

All rookie contracts are shells of what they once were. You make your money on the 2nd contractor so if Scherff thinks he is ready, he should leave. At worst he goes to the 2nd round, at WORST. Forget all these bs calculations about draft placement, if he can play he should leave.
