Rudock Continues to Impress

Except for his knack to throw really bad balls in pressure situations.

In the second half there were a number of passes that looked like the quarterback and receiver were not quite on the same page. I think that’s inexperience speaking more than anything else.

You know who else threw some critical interceptions late in the game? Stanzi. He throws an interception with less than 30 seconds left against Illinois, allowing the Illini to kick a game-winning field goal with just second remaining. He also went 0-4 from first and goal against Northwestern that year.

Then he went out in 2009 and had well-documented interception issues.

And then he was about as anti-clutch as you could imagine in 2010.

Yet pretty much every one of Rudock's critics would say they'd take Stanzi any day. Rudock is going to be a damn good quarterback for Iowa. Is he there yet? No. But he'll get there.

You're wrong on the illinois game. Greene scored the go ahead touchdown with time running out. Then Illinois kicked the game winning field goal.

Well, we don't know if he'll get there. He could stagnate. But we didn't know if Stanzi would get there either in 2008, and then he came out with some brass-*******-balls against Penn St in the last drive of that game.

Here's hoping Rudock makes a similar leap.

Yeah. That too.

Except it wasn't go ahead. Just tied the game. The Illinois drove and kicked the FG. Iowa got the ball with like no time left and Stanzi threw a pick. We needed a Cap One type play to have pulled it out. Lighting didn't strike twice.

True story.

Yea he is playing pretty good...but according to hwk23 Sokol is better and the coaches just don't see it. We would be 7-0 with Sokol starting even though he is third string. It is all about ypa in two practices/scrimmages.

rudock has a knack for knowing where the rush is coming from. He also seems to be given the most freedom within our offense of a QB since Drew Tate. Stanzi never made as many checks in a season as he has done already. Smart kid...obviously. I think he is a lot like Tate in his game just not as strong of an arm and doesn't have that fiery personality that ****** so many off (I loved it though).

hwk23 needs to learn the game.

In 23 defense, I havne't seen him posting that since the season started. He said whoever won the spot he would root for, and I don't see him calling for Sokol anywhere.....uniess I missed something??

He is doing an excellent job. A lot on his shoulders and he usually gets the guys in the right places with his reads, etc. First time out there and he looks like he has played a season of B-10 ball all ready with his poise. Also, I was one who thought Sokol should start the season but I cannot imagine anyone doing much better with the talent the QB has to work with (not what OSU has).
