Iowa really is a basketball school

Kirk Ferentz has pretty much dismantled the Hayden Fry football pedestal. Tyler Ulis, are you listening?

Although the basketball program appears to be on the rise and the football program appears to be on the decline it's a little presumptious to declare Iowa a basketball school considering how long it has been since we have been to the NCAA tournament and even finished in the top half of the Big Ten conference. If its determined by what sport excells and is the most successful then we are a wrestling school. Now if you are talking about revenue then it swings back to football. I would love to see a top ten rating for all three.

get a grip.

i assume you never went to a Fry game from '92 on. Some brutal, brutal teams. yeah, i was there. quick kick on 3rd down was one of Hayden's 'exotics'.......another staple was draw play on 3rd down. Kinnick was not sold out on a regular basis during this time.

believe me when I say I really am a Fry fan, but some of this revisionist history is mind-boggling.

Not correct, we finished in the top 1/2 of the Big Ten last season, then got jilted out of the Dance.

we're not counting BTT Championships, I guess?

FWIW, I was a Hawkeye Basketball fan long before I cared about Hawkeye Football

Yep, in the early 70's we had a competitive basketball program and it was fun listening to Jim broadcast the games on WHO radio while the football program was greatly struggling. Thanks to Fry for correcting that situation.

I wish wrestling mattered on a national level. It'd be fun to be good at a sport that people cared about.

Do you post anything that is not pathetic?

Hayden won three games his last season, including ending his career with a 49-7 loss against Minnesota.

If Iowa is a basketball school now, and not a basketball and football school, it isn't because of the facilities, fans, or the coaches salaries.
