BTN early 2013-2014 All B1G Teams

Tim Frazier is the only one I would argue with. While he's definitely got the ability he is coming off of an awfully difficult injury. If he comes back with all the quickness and speed he had then yes, he's got a great shot of being on the first team.

I'd switch him with either Appling or Marble right now.

i love Dev, but i just don't see how he gets in on the first team unless he just puts up ridiculous numbers. just too much ahead of him.

I think something like 17/5/3 and a top four finish for Iowa gets him there, less than that and he probably ends up on second team at best.

I agree...really? Hammond isn't even close to McGary....

Really? Hammond had games of 20/7, 13/8, 12/10, 14/8, 30/5, 19/13, 15/12, 13/8, 12/9, 14/6 in the B10. He has a much better offensive game over McGary as he actually has post moves, is a good free throw shooter, and is athletic as well. He also averaged over 2 blocks.

McGary's offense comes primarily from put backs and finishing after Burke has set him up in great position. He never showed the ability to get the ball on the block and score against defenders in the B10. He's also a terrible free throw shooter.

Can anyone explain the presence of the clip with Marble getting tripped and White's dunk getting blocked? Is that relevant in some way I don't see?

I think Harris and Payne have to play themselves off of the 1st team. The rest are vulnerable IMO. I think the 1st, 2nd and 3rd team guys could all end up higher or lower...depends on how the year goes. My 2 upset picks are McGary dropping to 3rd team at best and Andre Hollins making 1st team.

McGary had the benefit of being 5th on opposing team's scouting reports. Hammons was #1.
This year, McGary wont have that luxury. He'll be facing the double and triple teams that Hammons faces.
PPG/RPG/BlksPG, both are TR FR. I think it's a no-brainer when you consider their supporting cast.
Hammons - 10.6/6/2 . 23 mins per game
McGary - 7.5/6.3/.7 . 19.7 mins per game.

Byrd was Purdue's No.1 option last year.
To defend Hammons is just holding position and not gambling...he will make the mistake...not sold on his game yet and he allows himself to be taken out of games.
McGary plays hard every second he is on the floor it got him in trouble until he finally settled in...I would rather have that than a guy who is content to stand and disappear.

I'll take Hammons over McGary without hesitation. I think McGary is going to be in for a rude awakening come conference season. He may dominate in non conference but the Big 10 teams will be ready to limit him IMO.
