Are We A Basketball School Now?

Don't know about you, but coming off of this last football season and looking at another (very likely) bad year, combined with the surge/upswing in basketball, does Iowa become a "basketball school" for the near future? Things look very bright for Iowa's hoops future.

I was a Iowa b-ball fan before I was a football fan. Especially now that we're playing a style that I enjoy. I know for many (if not most) football will always be the most important. But it would not disappoint me at all if b-ball got more of the glory around these parts. Don't get me wrong, I don't want us to suck at football, I just see our b-ball ceiling as much higher than football.

one more bad year in football and making the sweet 16 would seem to cement that Iowa is not a basketball school and KF has to only look in the mirror to find out how it got that way.

Sadly I think our basketball team will win more games against Northwestern than our football team will win all season.

Right now we are neither. Basketball should be ready to make noise next year but you never know until the scoreboard says you win.

As a kid growing up in the 80's one thing I was lucky to experience was good football and basketball teams. That's what I want.

Although it's obviously tough to build a great program in either sport, there's no reason not to have both. One doesn't hurt the other. I love the stupid statement Alf made when leaving about Iowa being a football school when that very year the championship game for both basketball and football had the same schools. :)

Was that Florida? If so I guess the SEC has enough money to buy players for both sports.

Yep, they beat Ohio State in both championship games. Ohio State paid players too but apparently the real blue chippers hold out for hard cash instead of tattoos and such..
