Glass half empty or full after year 3? More wins this year? Yes, but against a really soft non-conference schedule and against the bottom feeders of the big ten who were missing their best players. I see Iowa and Purdue in similar positions, as both have some nice young players (Woodbury, Gesell) and (Hammonds, Johnson), but both are seriously deficient in the area of perimeter shooting. Both McCaffrey and Painter have acknowledged "scoring" as a an area for improvement and I think it will be between Iowa and Purdue for the final tourney spot next season, as neither has enough talent to compete with the upper tier of the conference. For Iowa, I contend that someone needs to leave to open up a spot for a juco player and that 2 of 3 incoming players need to take significant PT away from some returning players who have underwhelmed thus far. Without more scorers on the floor, we will be watching the NIT selection show again next year IMO>
