Hurts watching stupid teams get in... James Madison???

This game didn't steal a bid. It was a one bid league regardless of who won the conference tourney. Same goes for Liberty (although that was garbage simply because Liberty blow by even low mid-major standards). Iowa isn't in trouble in the context of other conference tourneys right now.

Yes, I get your point. I am just making a more general point I guess. And that is the consensus seems we have to climb over at least six? teams to get in. And of course that number COULD go higher with some additional upsets in conference title games this week. Especially if it happens with the "super conferences".

*Edit. I checked my math. Apparently these analysts feel there is more like 20-21 teams separating Minnesota/Illinois and Iowa.

Did they watch any games coming down the stretch? December was what, 3 months ago?

I just checked your math and you are correct. December was indeed 3 months ago. :)

I think if they do expand to 100+ teams down the road, they should have the conference regular season and tournament champion both get automatic bids.

Another idea would be to figure out a way to get to 32 conferences, and let the 32 conference tournament winners play. Conference tourneys would thus be "early round/play-in" games. Let conferences figure out how to give early-round byes to their top teams, thus, BTT, with 14 teams, could have 6 teams get byes, then the remaining 8 play 1st-round games, and top two get secound round bye, until it gets to 8 teams, then bracket those 8. Winner gets NCAA bid.

It eliminates the "How many teams will X Conference get?!" b.s. Each conference tourney winner is in. Regular season champ gets at least one first round bye, maybe two. That should be enough to satisfy everyone, eliminates the stupid Selection Committee.

For those "independents", simply make them join a conference.
