He's just not as good as he or Fran seems to think he is. Not bad, but not capable of imposing his will on a good defense.
I would like him to take the ball to the rim more often than settling for pull up jumpers.
He is battling turf toe that he suffered while also spraining his ankle in practice before the MSU game. He's not been the same with the ball in his hands since...that, and yes he is a point of emphasis for the defense.

RDM is a bit of a mystery to me. I would guess JM is right about the turf toe/ankle injuries...turf toe benches some darn good NFL players every year. However, it seems to me that his ball handling is holding him back. He looks, I think too often, out of sorts dribbling the ball. I noticed Purdue put a much smaller guy on Marble and RDM had a heck of a time making moves on him. Probably scouted the weakness I mentioned above. I have noticed this in other games, as well. His shooting has been inconsistent...we will just have to wait and see if it improves. In the meantime, he is often going to be put in the position of being our "go to" guy when the game is on the line.
What happened to Marbles step back jumper. It seemed an effective tool for him earlier in the year. I don't see him trying that much these days. He seems much more intent on driving to the paint and trying to draw a foul. It isn't working for him.
