Illinois has a new athletic director in Mike Thomas, hired Wednesday after spending nearly the past six years in the same post at the University of Cincinnati.

Athletic directors like to have their own man as head coach. The previous coach is usually give one year to perform before the AD pulls the plug and hire his own man. Zook needs to have a better season than 7-5 or he's history.

As much as I would like to see El Zookuego fall flat, I looked at Illinois' schedule and it is a doozy. I can see 7-8 wins for them easy.

Sept. 3 - Arkansas State
Sept. 10 - South Dakota State
Sept. 17 - Arizona State
Sept. 24 - Western Michigan
Oct. 1 - Northwestern
Oct. 8 - at Indiana
Oct. 15 - Ohio State
Oct. 22 - at Purdue
Oct. 29 - at Penn State
Nov. 5 - OPEN
Nov. 12 - Michigan
Nov. 19 - Wisconsin
Nov. 26 - at Minnesota

Had Illinois not lost their best three players to early NFL they could have made some noise in the Leaders.

I hope he doesn't go anyway. He's the the "high character" type of guy that would actually transform that program.

I see Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota. who are the other conference wins? next 2 imo would be Michigan and OSU imo. I think NW is going to beat the Zooker by 30+ this year.

Former AD Guenther finally retired, he had the longest tenure in the B10.

Illinois has a good QB so they could be good.

I only see Indiana and Minnesota. Purdue is going to be better then most think, they had a ton of injuries last year and have 18 or 20 of their starters back.

Illinois murdered Northwestern at Wrigley Field last year. I don't know what happened to make you think there will be a 50 point swing this year.
