Your first Iowa game? Your kids's?

The first Iowa football game I took my wife and three children to was the Capital One bowl game against LSU. What a game to remember as it didn't look good when LSU took the lead with a minutes left for Iowa to pull out that last magical play. I could see the clock running out and the Iowa receiver breaking into the open with only one defender to get by and get by he did. Doff..... "Oh my God I can't believe what I just saw." The funniest and priceless part happened when the LSU family sitting in front of us turned to is after LSU took the lead and said to us; "thanks for making it fun." The look in his eyes when we scored that touchdown was priceless but I didn't have the heart to tell him "thanks for making it fun" as he already had that I just got kicked really hard in the nuts look on his face. I shouldn't laugh but I just can't help it BaWaaHahahaha......lol.....roflmao....whew now I feel better!!!!

Looking forward to this upcoming season as our offence should be really solid and our defence also with a very friendly schedule. However I am careful not to count chickens just yet but the eggs are looking good in the incubator. :)

Mine was the homecoming win against Michigan state in kirks 1st or 2nd year when we were terrible. Rushed the field after the game. My oldest boys first was purdue last year

Actually, 1985 was Drake's re-entry after a couple year hiatus. Drake actually had some strong teams in the early 1980s. I believe they went 10-1 in 1981 or 1982.

I don't think that's right. Iowa destroyed them in 1985 to open the season and I think they got rid of scholarships and let the players transfer out after '85 or '86. Iowa would not have played a Drake team that had no scholarships and was coming off a hiatus.

I recall watching that one on TV. Brutal. Absolutely brutal.

Agreed. That was the weekend of our 10th year Pharmacy school reunion. Big bummer that night.

Now, OK4P, I distinctly remember the first sporting event you and I attended. Especially after...haha.

(But I'll play nice...no pics)

You know what? **** you and your kids. ;)

My first game was Kirk Frentz first game against #2 Nebraska. TE Zeron Flemisters little brother was my best friend in the 8th grade. Zeron got us tickets and had asked my dad who is a huge hawk fan to bring us down to the game. Afterward got to meet a lot of players and a tour of the facilities. Game was 7-0 at half and ended I believe 49-0.

I would hardly call the Fighting Sondergorney's losing to the Kitty Kats a "sporting event."

Yeah, I remember watching that one with my old man and being moderately hopeful at halftime. He has bince moved to Omaha and turned into a Husker fan. I can empathize with folks who have lost a parent.

1989: Iowa vs. Oregon.....Iowa got beat down 44-6 which was the beginning of Iowa's first losing season in 9 years. That game, that season Hayden Fry proclaimed for the millionth time that the Iowa program needed to get faster. I also believe the 89-90 year was TD's first losing season at Iowa. Good times for so long I arrive on campus and they are dodo.
