Your first Iowa game? Your kids's?

My first Iowa game was a drubbing at home vs Illinios. Jeff George gave us a whoopin', like 31-9. Soph. Matt Rodgers was hearing it from the crowd. But my Dad said no matter what, you do not leave early! You stay loyal. Then the Illinois band played postgame, followed by Iowa band. To this my Dad said, "Even the band kicked our a$$ this year!". I was 10 at that 1989 game. Today my four kids are 8, 6, 4, and 3. Would any of you take your kids at these ages? One at a time for their first game? What have any of you done? Thanks.

I took my daughter when she was 4. Was pretty cold and a couple of ladies sitting close by let me know I wasn't very smart.

1974, Ohio State at Iowa....Archie runs wild, hawks lose big....was in Boy Scouts standing on the sidelines...pretty cool....and no I didn't take any of my kids....too many HN tailgaters puking all over the place and HN'ers groping my wife.....;)

My first game was when I was 11 or 12 and Iowa drubbed UNI in the mid 90's.

I wont be taking either one of my sons to a game until they are probably 7 and know what the hell is going on with the game. The people that bring their babies or toddlers to a game baffle me. The game I see the most of them are the first couple games of the year when it is bound to be about 85 degrees and uncomfortable for grown adults. Yet there are several idiots who feel it necesarry to bring their 2 year old to Kinnick.

Saw my first Iowa football game at the ripe old age of...7. That would have been in 1952. After the game, we sat in traffic on the two lane highway to the Amana Colonies for nearly 2 hours and then had dinner at the Ox Yoke Inn. Don't really remember any of it, to be honest. The details were courtesy of my dad years later.

My first game was the '87 game at Iowa State. We drubbed them. First game at Kinnick was a couple years later, but I forget who we played or what happened. Lost a lot of brain cells bince then. Only thing I remember was my old man cursing at traffic trying to get out of there.

I was 6. Michigan St, 1985 in Kinnick. I will probably never see Iowa win a national championship but at least I can say I saw them in person when they were ranked #1 in the nation. I remember having really good seats on about the 40 yard line but it being very difficult to see the field over the people ahead of me and having to sit on my Dad's shoulders.

In the early 70's. Knot-Hole tickets, sat in the grass corner - south east endzone. ran around under the south endzone stands. I think it was against ASU or SDSU. Hawks fumbled the opening kickoff. Took huge risk of throwing toilet paper roll when someone scored a TD. Thought for sure they'd kick us out of the stadium.

1997 vs. Tulsa, somewhere in the NE corner (I feel like we were maybe 15 rows up or so, right across from the student section). Got to see Tavian Banks go wild, and got my Timmy D jersey at the Hawk Shop after the game. I still have that jersey stashed away at home; I'll never get rid of it.

Better make sure you hire a darn good lawyer for a prenup to protect that cherry piece of apparel.

My kids have not been to a game yet, because my wife and I use it as our get away weekend every year.

My first game was at ISU in '91. Kicked the crap out of them. My favorite play was the flea-flicker that was early in the game, one that you don't see very often. It was a pitch back to the HB and a hand off to the QB. I've always liked this one, because to a d-back, the conventional flea-flicker could look like a play action fake. Here it is at about 4:28:

Sad that the offense in 1991 looked more "modern" than Greg Davis's inept offense.

My mom and dad took me to my first game when I was 8. We lost to the goofers. Don't remember the particulars because it was so freezing cold out. I do know I didn't complain because I wanted to go to another game.

My best friend growing ups Dad took the 2 of us to see us kill Wisconsin 31-0 I believe it was 1996. I was a teenager. I remember us stonewalling Ron Dayne and their O didn't do anything against us. Sedrick Shaw had like 200 yards rushing. He just went nuts. Still my one of my all time favorite Hawks if for no other reason then how under rated/under appreciated he seems to be. One of Haydens quotes from that game was this "It's great to keep our unbeaten streak against Wisconsin alive," Fry said. "I've never lost to one of my assistant coaches, and I didn't want for it to happen today." Classic Hayden..

My first was 1985 #1 Iowa v #2 Michigan and obviously will never forget still have the ticket stub.

As far as my kids I couldn't tell you.

9/27/74 vs Penn State. I was a sophomore in high school.

A 27-0 loss, but memorable to say the least.

First one I took both my kids to:

9/3/05 versus Ball State. Hotter than blazes. They passed out those dumb straw hats. Hawks pounded them 56-0. My kids were 11 and 12.
