Your biggest memory from TN vs IA

What I'll remember most is the mind boggling inconsistency, which was a microcosm of our entire season.

When the team WANTED to play defense, it could. When the team WANTED to get tougher, it could. When the team WANTED to rebound it could.

But for reasons only they know, they didn't always want to do those things.

For me it was Bohannon shoving the TN screener resulting in a double foul. After that the refs started cleaning things up. TN got called a lot for fouling and IA was in the bonus+ early.
Another item in Friday's game and today's was Bohannon got into some strong conversations with some teammates after miscues. It has been missing.
This and this. Exactly.

Totally agree. As Hayden Fry once said (paraphrasing), "If I see anyone smiling about this I'm going to punch them in the mouth."

It is a broken record, but Iowa HAS TO START WINNING these big games on a big stage. Otherwise, they will be stuck in neutral. They have got out of the mud with Fran (and back into the mud at times seemingly every year), but if they want to be in drive mode, they have to win the big games when they matter.

I think the definition of the big game is 'the game they lose'. If we would have lost to Cincinnati, that would have been the big game. If we beat Tennessee and lose the next round, that would have been the big game.

My thoughts exactly. Cincinnati was a big game. And we won it. And if we had beat Tennessee there would have been people saying Purdue was the big one.

On the last shot in regulation by Tennessee, Cook gets shoved in the back on the rebound...right in front of the referee...no call. Now, I'm not saying it would have been a guarantee that Tyler makes the free throw...but he got shoved big time.

We had been getting mugged all game. It was a smart decision to retaliate so the refs were forced to clean things up. It amazes me how physical teams are allowed to be with us.
-Constant hand checking going on by Tennessee. Jbo was gettting pushed and hacked everytime down the floor.
-This team missing so many short shots around the rim.
-I hope someone is telling TC he is not anywhere near NBA ready. Stay at Iowa, get your degree, be a better TEAM player. You can see he is auditioning for the NBA. Dunks do not make an NBA player.

Baseline win= Cincinnati....minimum expectations (typically Mr. Davis year)

Beat Tennessee= Next level type win (not a typical year and upper level Mr. Davis year).

Anything beyond Sweet Sixteen is gravy at this point.

All things considered, I would say getting to the Sweet Sixteen is the White Whale at this point we are chasing. Cincy was a very nice win, but not a BIG win. Winning the first round game was a typical thing under the Good Dr.

Iowa had a chance to make history on the biggest stage, and didn't get it done again. Great moral victory though.

The good doctor was usually the higher seed when we won those first round games...

This was the first NCAA game for every player on the team but Baer, we were the lower seed, and we came back from a 13 point defecit against an NCAA regular. That was a big win.

A round of 32 game is the biggest stage? Okay, if you say so.

Professional athletes who didn't know what an Iowa was were tweeting in complementing Iowa's heart. You know, like Pat Mahomes.

I agree that it's not a moral victory though. Posted it several times in the game. Hayden would have punched someone in the mouth if he caught them smiling. Given the choice I would have traded heart for the win. But Tennessee showed some heart too.

Look at UCF. They showed all the heart in the world. But Duke got the only thing they needed. The win. So no moral victory whatsoever. Maybe a learning experience for what should be one of most experienced teams in all NCAA next year.

If beating a 7 seed is considered a BIG WIN (even being the lower 10 seed) I'm not sure what that says. But, no question, I still think it was a very good win. I consider 8/9 and 7/10 games to usually be coin tosses anyway.

Just my two cents and it's more TC related...But seeing him erupt on the bench during the comeback was the first time I ever remembered thinking to myself that he really looks like he's 100% committed to his teammates and loves being a Hawkeye. I'm sure there's been other moments but for whatever reason that moment just made me think of a guy having fun with his friends and showing a ton of heart and passion for the game while he wasn't even on the court.

Anger: So pissed at our coaching staff for once again not having the players focused and ready to perform right from the opening tip. Once again we just looked like we didn't deserve to be there in the 1st half as the beatdown was administered by TN.
Disappointment: SMH at the glaring gap in speed and quickness between the two teams.
Excitement: Screaming with delight at every steal and made shot as we inched closer to them.
Hope: Wishing and yes, even praying for a few more breaks to go our way late in regulation that ultimately didn't happen.
Pride: So proud Sunday (and still proud as hell today) that our team showed tremendous toughness and teamwork in the 2nd half as they fought like hell to get it tied up, while showing the whole country that Iowa can in fact compete with the best teams in the country.
Embarrassed: Kicking my own ass for not being a better Hawkeye fan when I was so upset and being so hard on this team when they were stinking it up early.
GO HAWKS!

My biggest memory was the shitty first half that I watched on my phone in the Denver airport. I had the game DVR'd so I didn't the score or anything because I was on a plane back to Cedar Rapids. When we landed the kid in front yelled out that it went to OT and we lost, and I was pissed - so I haven't seen any of the 2nd half. I watched some highlights of the 2nd half but 90% of it was Tennessee scoring. Maybe this weekend I'll watch it and skip the OT.
