You think CJ and King are playing

So your contention is that he is disinterested on defense but interested on special teams. Oh, and he had 12 tackles s a CB today. Rather disinterested huh?

Sleep it off son, you lost this argument before it started.

more ignorance, the kickoff return is more a product of the team blocking well. as for him having 12 tackles as a cb, you stupidly make my argument for me. he is getting burned on passes and/or giving up the edge and having to run the play down from behind. real genius work there, thank you.

Keep something in mind regarding CJ. He is getting the worst QB coaching possible at a Power 5 level. Jake R moved on, went to Michigan, had a decent year and now is getting legit coaching in the NFL and has a role on a practice roster. Not a huge deal mind you, but to go where he was at, basically a ho-hum Iowa QB, to an NFL practice roster is incredible.

Put CJ on an adequate offensive coaching staff at the Power 5 level with average WR talent, he's probably having a very good year. The best thing for him right now is to get as far away from this staff as possible. They are not good with QBs period.

I think you mean Mabin. There is your confusion. Stop digging, for your own sake.

apart from his one pick this season, name a play our pre-season all american has made when one is needed. king looks disinterested this season. all american players make plays, king isn't.

You couldn't be more wrong bro. Teams avoid him on defense, mainly because our secondary outside of King is downright laughable, but think of all the times he's returned punts that you know have KF going potty in his khakis bc he wants him to fair catch it, the kick returns. King is one player I absolutely cannot question on this team.

a desperate hail mary from you because you recognize the idiocy or your support for kings play today, lol. comical. mabin has played poorly all season. my advice to you, listen to your wife, you clearly lack football the football IQ needed to argue football with me.

Pretty much every kick return and punt return in crunch time. Hard to "make plays" on defense when people dont' throw your way.

dude, you do realize the last 2-3 games king is getting targeted, right? he got gashed by a TE in the first half for 40 or more yards and had the QB 3 yards short of first down and surrendered 10 feet. with 12 tackles in this game, 7 solo, there is no way you can say he isn't getting targeted

Yup. Me, 99% of this board, and pretty much every scout anywhere are wrong, but you are right. You should do this for a living.

Targeted? No. Dude, cmon. Yes he got beat by a TE in a mismatch and poor tackle attempt. But homie...only icky pants might agree with you... that's not a positive.

King is a first round pick...and is playing like it.

Stop.

King is the last thing wrong with this team. Of all the issues Iowa has you think King is one of them? CMON MAN!! The D played well today except for Mabin getting beat over the top all the time. Thankfully their QB overthrew most of them. King should be lining up as a WR for us. I beat he would instantly make an impact. That's something we need desperately need with our offense. However, KFer and the GD can't figure it out.

EDIT: Outside of tackling the D played well. Tackling was very piss poor.

Ok. So I thought maybe this Arkansas guy is seeing somethin I am not so I just watched every defensive play (love DVR) and focused on King every time. My takeaways:

-Wisconsin threw at him 5 times, completing 2 passes.
-He stuffed Taylor at Wiscy's 6 yard line with 7 minutes left in 2nd quarter, setting up Iowans first FG.
-He did miss the tackle on Peniston's long play because he was trying to strip ball. (Trying to make play like arkansashawk wants, should've just made tackle.)
He jumps on pile 2 plays later (looked like max effort to me)
He makes up for missed tackle shortly when he recovers the fumble in the endzone. (#Playmaker)
he tackled Houston on 3rd down, which would have forced punt if not for friendly spot and no measurement.
On Clement's long run late, he comes from the opposite side, through the backfield, around the play, chases it all the way down 35 yards down the field, and is in on the tackle. If that isn't effort, what is?
He had 2 tackles at the LOS, and 2 tackles for 3 yard gains, which is far from normal for CBs.
I would wager that there is not a better tackling CB in all of college football.

I saw none of these so-called get beat and run play down from behind.

I will thank you though. When you first made this thread, I thought "no way, King is awesome and this guy is drunk."

Now, after rewatching every single play again, I think, "King is freaking super awesome, and this guy is on crack."

add in the fact that the guy is on the field more than anyone and would probably jump at the chance to play on offense, he becomes one of my favorites in a while

That tackle he made to almost stop a 1st down (he actually probably did stop it) was a really good effort and a great open field tackle.

how about his many punt and kick returns. He's leading the BoneG in both categories. Until today I had yet to see him give up a large YAC.
