You serious Jon?

Numbers don't lie. DJK was the best Wr from the kirk era. His numbers would be higher if he wasn't always in trouble.

DJK lost a lot of playing time in the doghouse. Tim Dwight didnt play receiver in high school nor did mcnutt.

Possibly the best pair of receivers was Mo Brown and CJ Jones.

Dave Moritz and Ronnie Harmon in the slot on the same team were pretty damn great. I saw Moritz up at Wisconsion put 3 moves on a dback from the 5 yard line and he ended up about 4 yards from the guy, touchdown, great route runner

I thought Keenan Davis was a kid that didn't live up to what his potential was. He'd make a play here and there then disappear or drop some easy ones. I was hoping his senior year with Vandenberg he would put up some monster numbers but it just never happened...

Am I the only one who enjoyed watching Maurice Brown. When I saw the article title, he's the first one who came to my mind. It seemed like he had 40yd plus touchdown pass play every game, usually fly pattern. Also, no mention of Clinton Solomon. He's another who sticks out to me. I would think he had pretty good stats. He also always seem to be getting a long TD catch.

Not bad numbers from Solomon. I'd take him on my roster and any of the above. I'd probably take him over Brown if I had to choose between the two. Just think if he had a sophmore year in there.

Agreed. Mo and Clinton Solomon were solid.

DJK was talented, great receiver.

Loved me some Eddie Hinkel though, great hands, great route runner.

Fwiw, Steve Largent was one of my favorite receivers ever, caught everything within 5 yards of him.

DJK was significantly better than Dwight. The guy was big time and made some HUGE catches in his day. Dwight was a great kick returner, but when it comes to catching passes, DJK. The next guy after him isnt even close. McNutt played on the same team as DKJ and McNutt was Iowa's Scottie Pippen to Jordan.

This is just dumb, but considering the source I get it now. TD's route tree consisted of straight vertical routes and the occasional square out to the sidelines. That was Patterson/Fry's offense that wasn't on TD. Neither guy were great route runners, DJK had slightly better hands. If TD could have run those bubble screens Iowa ran early on in the Ferentz era he would have absolutely crushed it.

Kevin Kasper had one heck of a season and got himself in the NFL for awhile. He was sneaky fast and athletic.

Code for white dude. He ran a sub 4.4 forty and could bench 400 lbs. You could make the argument he was more workout warrior than football player, but there wasn't anything sneaky about his athleticism. Those slants and screens he was running away from guys. He was the Iowa passing attack for those '99 and '00 seasons.

I'd take Eddie Hinkle over DJK just because he was more likable. Probably not as fast, but his hands were incredible. DJK won't ever be in my favorites just because he's a ******.

You're bias as can be... And you seem real tuff throwing around remarks like that over a computer screen... I'd like to see how long it would take you to get accumulate
2,616 receiving yards in D-1 football while playing against some of the best commotion in the country. Oh and just a FYI my man DJK finished his career fifth in all-purpose yards with 4,231, just think about what the yards would have been had he been given an earlier chance at returning. . . . Or do you think just anyone can take a 99-yard KO return for touchdown against OSU...? One more thing is that DJK and McNutt played in the same 5 year stretch, who was Ed Kinkles wR teammates...? None of automatically pop out such as DJK and McNutt.

Haha was DJK your smoking buddy or what? We all are well aware of his resume... And not to speak for DP but I think he made it pretty clear that his production wasn't the reason he wasn't a fan of his....

Uhhh, what does playing in the NFL have to do with who was the best WR at Iowa? Moronic post. Robert Gallery was the best OL we ever had. How did he do in the NFL? Who cares! Brad Banks and Chuck Long were our top QBs of all time. How did they play in the NFL? Again, who cares? It is irrelevant to how they performed as Hawks.

DJK broke all of Dwight's records at Iowa. The guy averaged over 40 catches per year for FOUR YEARS, including his freshmen year. We all loved Willies as a freshmen for his potential, and he had like 3 catches. It is mind blowing to think of what a talent drop off we have had at WR since DJK. Vandenberg and Stone wouldn't belong on the same field as him or McNutt.

How did he do in the NFL - starter from 2004 to 2011, and easily made between $50-$80million. Easily one of the least successful products of the University of Iowa. Geesh.

DJK made a some dumb choices that hurt his team for one game. Kirk makes dumb choices that hurt the program each year.

I know I know Kirk didn't have "drug house" however DJK loved the fans and Kirk hates us. Some of yous should get over the DJK thing. He was a college kid.

McNutt is easily in the top 2 of my lifetime (33 years). I can't remember another WR at Iowa who truly had it all, size, speed and hands. His 2011 season was just batsh*t insane. How many other Iowa WR's had over 1,000 yards receiving in a season? I remember Kevin Kasper barely cracked 1,000 his senior season, but I know Tim Dwight didnt, Danan Hughes didn't, DJK didn't, KMM didn't, and Clinton Solomon didn't.

Speed???? I think you are confusing his long stride for speed.

Many of you forget Ronnie Harmon in 1982 and 1983 played wide receiver for Iowa. He was INCREDIBLE. I would argue that he was just as good as DJK.

McNutt is definitely the best I ever saw play at Iowa. I would argue that Tevaun Smith has the potential to be right up there at the top, if CJ will just throw the damn ball to him this year. I think he will!!!!

I would also humbly point out that we will never know how good Tim Dwight could have been..... Matt Sherman was really an average QB. It would have been so much fun to see what Chuck Long, Chuck Hartlieb, Matt Rogers, Ricky Stanzi, Brad Banks or Drew Tate could have done with Mr. Dwight in their lineup. It would have been incredible to watch. DJK had a very good QB, Ricky Stanzi, throwing to him for 3 years, I believe.

If you think Tim Dwight was better than DJK, let the pride go. Football is a way better game today than it was when TD played. You wouldnt wanna see what DJK would do back then.
