76, is it all 4 lane? Which of the 2 would you recommend? Does it take the full 5 1/2 hours that mapquest says it does?

95 is four-laned for most, if not all of the way if I remember correctly.

93 is four-laned until you exit off HWY 40 east of Kingman, AZ, then becomes two lane for some time. This route is more pleasing to the eye though, and faster I have found, especially now that you can take new bridge over Hoover Dam and by-pass it altogether.

Takes us usually 4-430 hours to get to WS of Phoenix!

If I can find a cheap flight I'll be going. Doesn't look likely right now though, all seem pretty high.

How easy of a drive is it from Vegas if we flew into there?

Easy drive to Phoenix from Vegas. 5 1/2 - 6 hours seems pretty conservative to me, I've done it in way less time, but I have a heavy foot at times. Plus, you no longer have to do the Hoover Dam, the new bridge is complete or at least open for travel. Saves a lot of time coming from Vegas to Phoenix.

Hawksnaz,
do you take 93? I have a lead foot too. How long does it take you?

I think I am going thru Vegas. It is cheaper with room and car then just a flight to Phoenix.
Plus then I get Vegas for a couple days instead of Phoenix!!!

I was planning to drive to Florida. Can't make it to Arizona because it's too close to Christmas. Would be going if it was later in the week.

masoncityhawkeye,

I take 93. From my house to Vegas City Limits I can make in 4 1/2 hours now that the bridge is complete. No longer do you have to go through the Hoover Dam fiasco. I live in Surprise, which is far NW side of town.

The price of airline tix ruined it for us. I've been perusing flights out of CR, DSM, Omaha, KC, MPLS to both FL and AZ for the past three weeks and absolutely couldn't find anything that was reasonable. $500+ was definitely the norm. Just another benefit to the BCS--after New Years so cheaper flights.

Nope, staying home this year.We still have a bad taste in our mouths on how we finished the season. We went to the Arizona game and that was enough.Good luck to everyone going and bring home a W.Go Hawks

With Phoenix as the host city, most all "cheap" airfares were snapped up long, long ago by the "Christmas crowd" which leaves only much more expensive tickets at this point.

Driving is going to be tough as the distance is really far, coupled with the fact that many people already ventured out to Arizona in September.

Both of these factors are going to play significantly in our attendance numbers (I'm afraid).

Let's hope the Arizona locals all show up as well as others who are within a reasonable (both time and $$$) proximity.

Yes. I have a string of seven bowls in a row and I refuse to let the string stop. My wife and two kids are going. I ordered tickets to the game last night, but I have no idea how we're going to get there. My wife and I are in Florida now and when we get home tomorrow, I'm going to try to see what I can find. Drive or fly, we'll be there!! Go Hawks...

Its an interesting year so far...people I speak with in the travel industry have told me tix sales are slow for Oklahoma, Nebraska, PSU, Ohio State and WVU, school that have very good traveling reputations.

The only one that surprises me is Ohio State. New Orleans is an AMAZING city, especially if you can find your way off Bourbon Street.

Mine is Option #5: Watching it from the comfort of the Wig & Pen, like I do every year.

Unfortunately with 3 kids and a single-income family, bowl games just aren't written into the stars for me. Likely someday when the kids are all out of the house and not sucking on the financial teet of Mom & Dad anymore. :)
