You guys need to leave the arguments on the football board!

It's ridiculous that someone can't start a thread of constructive criticism about the basketball team, without some of you going into full attack mode!
Guess what? It's OK to say that no defense was played in a 98-93 basketball game. You don't have to take it as a condemnation of all things Fran McCaffrey and all things Iowa basketball!
If you can't leave your attacking style of argumentative crap on the football board, maybe you should stay there.
It's OK to be critical of a coaches decision, or of a players performance. If you don't agree with that criticism, say so in a constructive manner, or don't say anything at all.
It's OK to suggest that Olesani should start instead of Woodbury. It doesn't mean that that person HATES Adam Woodbury. If this is the direction that Jon wants this board to take, that's his prerogative but it doesn't make any of you posters good Iowa fans. Far from it.

Off the deep end? Have you seen some of the responses to reasonable threads on this board? People calling other posters whiners because they said no defense was played. And on and on it goes. You're not helping things either. If you want the same tone in every thread on the basketball board to resemble the football board, you're getting your wish.

Maybe next time wait until Iowa loses a game. You might find the masses around here a bit more supportive.

Read the threads. I can pull at least one post out of every thread that fits what I say. Sometimes several posts. I could post them here, with quotes to what thread but that would only incite those posters to come here and ATTACK!
You know who you are.

Why should a poster have to wait until Iowa loses, to be critical of something, or expect to be called a troll, idiot, stupid, whiner, etc?
Give me one good reason.

Hey, how about a nice joke....

A lady walked into a dentist's office, took off all her clothes, and spread her legs. The dentist said, ''I think you have the wrong room.''
''You put in my husband's teeth last week," the lady said. "Now you have to remove them."

Jmo, but there are also lots of reasonable responses to the constructive criticism.

Just good general advice is to ignore the more bombastic posts.

I think if you had any clue what you're talking about, then people wouldn't be attacking you. It's as simple as that.

I don't think Jon would appreciate me sharing any of the jokes I know, on his forum. But thanks for sharing yours.

Because fans tend to overreact to wins and losses. Win = everything is fine, even when its not. Loss = everything is going down the toilet, even when it isn't. Haven't you spend much time here lately?

The sooner you come to the realization that this is what message boards are the better. I understand what you're saying. I've felt your frustrations. I've gone off the deep end.

Then I realized I'm not gonna change a damn thing. Accept it.

That's right. There are a lot of good, reasonable responses but the other crap needs to stop.

have you considered that you might be the over-the-top one? also, some of us might have gotten chippy because of the 5 negative Woodbury threads posted after every game that are the exact same. i'm already on the record that Gabe is playing better right now and deserves more time, but i don't feel there is a need to go after Woody like you do.

take a breath and relax. you're taking this way too personally.

I'm not even discussing a thread of over-reaction. I'm talking about a simple discussion of differing opinions that some people feel the need to jump in and be dicks to other posters in an attempt to turn it into some kind of argument it's not intended to be.
And that's not a good reason. That may be THE reason but it is without merit.

That's probably good advice. I'll take it.
