You get one good player for one year, what position?

Point guard is the obvious choice. Is there a better choice than Jeff Peterson?

PG leaving the Hawgs

Unless Fran pulls another Cartwright out of a hat, which would be perfect for our future IMHO, Jeff Peterson would be kickass for the Hawkeyes in 2011-2012. He could give us 15-35 minutes per game, as needed. HUGE.

PG is the obvious choice for me, but is it for Fran? Coach may be satisfied.

Jeff should find the most awesome grad program in the most awesome city and just have an amazing time moving on with his life. Why spend a winter in Iowa backing up Bryce Cartwright. Initially, he was going to go to Princeton. Go to grad school at a school of that caliber.

Now to answer your question. I would choose a dominant center. Let Oleseni have time to develop and take the pressure off Mel to D much bigger players.

What do you suppose is going on there. He was starting, the coach wanted him to return. I have not looked at Arkansas recruiting, did they bring in a stud that would put Jeff on the bench?

in the big 10, i'd think something like a C/PF. but in other, wide open conferences i'd take a SG.

heck, i'd take any "one and done". it would be unbelievable if iowa could get to that level.

If only he could go to the the most awesome public school in the nation and spend his time with the most awesome non-trads!

Fayetteville is in a really beautiful place. However, it is a very limited university and the grad programs are pedestrian at best.

But seriously guys. Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with basketball. Maybe Jeff has just played in two BCS conferences and knows he can do it and now just wants to have the best possible academic experience as he starts grad school.

Sorry, but you just can't do that at Arkansas, or, with the exception of very few programs, Iowa.

Forget public. Go Ivy, or Stanford. A graduate degree from one of those places is worth more than a few memories of playing basketball.
