YESSSS!!!

They are so bad they are great! For one game on like homecoming or something where a lot of those guys come back for it I think that'd be pretty awesome.

Might have been the "ONLY" bad decision Hayden Fry made while he was at Iowa.

As mentioned above, I could agree with one game though. Like NW at Wrigley. With social media nowadays, I could just hear the chatter that would come after the game. Iowa would get some attention.

Believe it or not, Iowa used to be ahead of the pack when it comes to creative unis. I remember when these were introduced, and they were considered 'cutting edge' at the time. I was one of the few fans who liked the look then -- I still kind of like it now!
If I remember correctly, the year they were introduced the Hawks underperformed and had a disappointing record, so they retired those jerseys after one year.

And then Oregon copied them and suddenly it became "cool."

I've driven 11 hours round trip to every home game for the last 4 years except last year's ISU game, and I would stay home if they brought these outta the attic. Worst uniform in the history of college and professional sports.

If I remember correctly these were Reebok ones so I bet that makes it problematic for Nike to be able to even do...

They were different. I think most of the fans you point to who used to think they were "cutting edge" were prob Iowa fans who are invested in the team. Prob not outside fans so much. We as fans have the innate ability to always think positively for their team and usually have the glass half full attitude.

No other teams followed suit after that and it did not start a trend, so I don't view it as "cutting edge".

I think after the season, Iowa realized it looked like chit and the fans let them know that through the season. It was a one season deal for a reason.

They were probably matched up with Iowa's Pony shoes. Not crap, they had Pony sponsor back in the day.
The Washed up Walkons had Ladell Betts on awhile ago and when he talked about how after KF took over for a yr or so Iowa didn't have an athletic sponsor for apparel. He didn't like the offer Nike had so they just didn't have one and that was like 99-00 I think. Eventually they came to terms and have been a Nike school ever since. It was an interesting story I had no clue about before I heard that anyway. Betts is a great guy/story teller that's for sure.
