*Darian DeVries has already got three four star recruits coming into WVU next season. It would be terrible if they followed Darian to Iowa.

On the video on my first post the guy on YouTube says legit sources are saying Iowa is interested in Darian. He does think WVU has more NIL money to offer recruits over Iowa. Even though WVU has recently replaced most of their sports program head coaches.............. hmmmm? I would say that's not good for them.

Also, DeVries was under consideration for the Iowa job before Fran was hired.
 
He put out a statement yesterday after they were left out of the tourny (which was totally horseshit btw) and it was pretty bland just expressing his disappointment for not getting in. But he didn't say anything about them going to the NIT or coming back next yr or anything of that sort so that was eye brow raising too... I wonder how fast this might go down now.
 
On a site called bracketmatrix.com, they compile bracketologies. All 111 had WVU in the field. UNC was on 54. If you're WVU, how do you tell your kids, "we just got our asses packed by the UNC AD, your coach is looking to leave, you all are planning to see how much money you can make in the open market, but before all of that, let's go play North Vermont Tech for a trophy we're going to hide in the basement of the art building."?
 
It sounds like Iowa and DD are going to meet today or tomorrow. With "a bird in the hand", will they pull the trigger to make sure they get one of them or wait for Drake to lose out. What if Drake gets to the Sweet 16? Could it be another Stoops/Ferentz situation? The only thing is that I don't think DeVries will go somewhere else.
 
I do not know if it will matter a great deal who the next coach turns out to be. If a magic wand intervenes with $$ for good BT level players, + a highly competitive salary for the coach, + renovations for CHA, + free student tickets, + a convenient shuttle system for them, and a break from the TV gods on late night mid week conference games. Then, maybe.

If we get someone equally as good as Fran but he helps bring fans, we will probably be a win or two better just be having a better home court advantage. If Fran added one win per year, he probably makes the tournament 3 more times and gets about 1 seed higher each time. That's a big deal. If it plays out that way.
