I think some of you are overreacting with everything.

First when Coach was hired it was outrage and calling for Barta's head.

Then you heard Coach talk and were convinced that we will be a NCAA tourny type team within the next couple years.

Now with Larson and Fuller leaving its already been said on the board that we will be terrible next year.

Honestly everybody needs to just chill out. Let things play out.

In a few weeks Coach will prolly get some juco player that will fit in with the program nicely.

I agree on the over reaction. Yes Fuller and Larson are both gone now, but I actually prefer that Mac is allowed to get his own players in here. I have confidence in Mac that he'll get a few good recruits in here and we'll be fine. I can't spell or pronounce the kids name, but the recruit from Sienna that's looking at Iowa seems like a good catch and I'm sure Mac has a few others he's lookin at also. Give it a chance, the sky's not falling, it's just overcast and cloudy right now.

It is a big deal, but it is not a shocker and not the end of the world. This will happen when you turn over an entire staff. The difference this time needs to be that this happens in year one and not in years 2 and 3 as well.

Nobody said it wasnt a big deal.

But the reactions of "we suck now" and "we will be terrible next year" are way out of line.

We dont know who the other assistants will be yet. We dont know who we will pick up to fill out the lineup. And most importantly we dont know what the dynamic of this team will be like for another 8 MONTHS!

So just just chill out is all. Today isnt the darkest day for Hawkeye bball.

I don't think this is the end of the world. People overreact to anything new on this board. This is to be expected with a coaching change.

The thing that bothers me is when some say that it is a good thing so that coach can get his own players for his style of play. Fuller is someone that we would have loved to keep. Good college basketball players are good players in any coaching scheme.

God, you'd think we had lost Kobe and MJ here. You do realize than Fran was able to recruit guys better than either of these two to Siena. I would guess he can do the same at Iowa.

This.

Not like we lost two starters on a conference championship team.

FM is more or less having to start over.

That is debatable. The Big Three were seniors this year and Ben Jacobsen and Matt Painter disposed of them easily. Kenny Hasbrouk was/is a stud. But we don't yet know what Larson will end up being and Fuller is still developing.

With all hands on deck the best I thought they could do was seventh. And the difference between 7th and 10th is not a lot. I just want to feel like Iowa has a chance to win games. Last year was the first time in my life where I didn't feel thy way

Jon,

Do you feel better going into this next season than you did the last?

I for one feel better with knowing what style of basketball will be played. And really thats all that is for sure right now. Its hard to tell what this team will be like until the fall. Just too many questions.

And it is not just not having all hands on deck, but losing the best current player and the best recruit. Any other current player or recruit would have been better. In fact, it might still be better if some remaining current players were to leave. At this point, it might be most effective to just find greyhounds to run some teams ragged.

I am still waiting for Stormin to come through and let us know that his sources are telling him that Fuller never considered transferring at any point this season.

I agree.

When you have a bad program, you must hit rock-bottom in order to rebuild properly. If...as some are saying...Fuller pretty much had him mind made up to transfer back in February...then he was basically deadwood anyway. I wouldn't want any player on the roster who was not 100% committed and willing to put in the hard work that will be necessary to resurrect Iowa basketball.

Fuller leaving hurts but I can't help but think that FM will now have more flexibility with 2 Fuller and Larsen's schollies freed up. Don't get me wrong, I wish Fuller was still around.

Hopefully we will get through all the turnover in year one of FM instead of having a yearly merry go round like Lick had.

Maybe Fran will get lucky and pick up a recruit who de-commits from one of the other schools with a new coach. A place like Clemson, Wake, BC. Just wishful thinking on my part. But stuff like that never happens for us.
