Wow

Why do I bother? Welcome to the B1G, Twerps? I personally think all B1G officials should get a sit down by the commissioner to stop this rough play and non-call nonsense that pervades this league. Who does rough play satisfy? Michigan State? Purdue? Certainly not Wisky any more?

You know, a league that calls fouls more closely may hurt the Hawks.

No one is preventing players on opposing teams from wearing raquetball glasses. Man up or get off the court, this is a tough conference.

Didn't know Maryland fans were this bad On their boards they are wanting Woody suspended for the rest of the year. They also want to start a lawsuit.
They need to relax because they are not the first or last to be poked by Woodbury; tell them to wear some goggles next time. We do the hokey Pokey and turn ourselves around.....

I like it, I have no problem with the team getting a reputation as a somewhat dirty team, it's a hell of a lot better than being a soft team.

Those that don't mind the reputation best not being complaining about officiating, because having a dirty team label typically isn't going to help us in the officiating and getting calls dept.

It happened twice in one game against White last year against Villinova. They looked intenetional but no flagrant 1..What a bunch of horse crap.

I remember those well, and we were rightly annoyed F1 wasn't called.

As others have noted, F1 doesn't involve intent:

"A flagrant 1 personal foul shall be a personal foul that is deemed excessive in nature and/or unnecessary, but not based solely on the severity of the act. Examples include, but are not limited to:
1. Causing excessive contact with an opponent while playing the ball;
2. Contact that is not a legitimate attempt to play the ball or player,
specifically designed to stop or keep the clock from starting;
3. Pushing or holding a player from behind to prevent a score;
4. Fouling a player clearly away from the ball who is not directly
involved with the play, specifically designed to stop or keep the clock
from starting; and
5. Contact with a player making a throw-in.
6. Illegal contact with an elbow that occurs above the shoulders of an
opponent when the elbows are not swung excessively."

If this was an opposing team that did this we could have fun with it. Have everyone in the student section where googles and have signs that say "players name" can't poke my eye. Every time said player touches the ball "Poker, Poker, Poker". :)

i have no problem with a flagrant 1 being called. I do have a problem with it being a big deal after the fact though.

I for one think they are going a little overboard…but

A lot of Hawk fans are kind of brushing it under the rug. The kid did play with a puffy eye could have had a factor. If that happen to our PG you know this board would be blowing up too.

Not saying it is intentional, but what if this happens again by accident? It has happened 3 times in two different games. If it happens in a fourth game do you think the refs boot him now that he has a “wrapâ€￾? Would it be inappropriate to?

I said this in another thread but I'll say it again. Woody has inadvertently poked 2 people in the eye. They both happened while he and the other guy were moving. It is all but impossible to hit such a small target like that.

The Kaminsky one was nothing like the other two. What he did was on purpose but there was no chance of hurting Kaminsky. Try putting your hand on someone's head and then drag your fingers down their face. You're not going to poke an eye out that way. Kaminsky was not hurt by it. He was annoyed by it. And that's exactly what Woody was trying to do.
