Wow. SEC actually does the right thing.

The loop holes are still there. For example, if they have a SR class of 18 s'ship most schools would maybe sign 20 attributing to normal off season attrition. My guess is they'll sign their allotted 25 and players will come down with mysterious career ending injuries to make room for the extra. It's a step, but just a baby step. Right now this move is all about perception and the average fan will perceive the SEC is doing the right thing.
 
Those mysterious career ending injuries will be harder to have. One of the provisions of the new rules is that medical issues will have to be verified and approved by the league office instead of just by the team.
 
And the coaches voted 12-0 against this last week. The presidents trumped them, but the coaches showed their true colors on this one.
 
This is a step in the right direction, but far from a remedy to the oversigning which takes place to an extreme degree in the sec. They know this provides a huge competitive advantage and won't stop oversigning until forced to by a national rule.
