wow, Jake's got confidence.

let's all give credit where credit is due (especially the CJ backers, myself included). Ruddock just played one hell of a first half. Looking sharp on his intermediate throws, not afraid to look down field. Keep it up bro

Jake is a fine QB and a valuable Hawkeye, but he has a lower ceiling than CJ. I believe CJ orchestrated 2 drives with one resulting in a TD. Jake orchestrated 12 drives IIRC, how many resulted in a TD?

Anyway, I had hoped Kirk would flip the s-c-r-i-p-t in the second half and give Jake a single drive and CJ all the rest. (basically making it an even comparison).

JR played great. To nitpick at things after that game is lame. He played really well. Made alot of good plays and showed he's a leader. All that with the weight of the world on his shoulders to keep his job. He's got the "it" factor that you want in a qb. When a bad play does happen he is on to the next play. I think the small amount of work CJ got is a disservice to him as far as trying to evaluate him. I see along with everyone the upside CJ has but I'm not convinced he has the "it" JR does. I think the coaches favor the "it" over potential and arm strength at this point and so long as JR plays like that you'll be hard pressed to see CJ get more snaps then what he got this week.

You guys sound like republican and democrats during campaign season.... I'm a Jake supporter, I support CJ. always attacking, while the VAST majority tire of the idiocy.

I'm not singleing you out biased Hawkeye, it's just the one I hit replay on. I agree with you .... Not the zone read, but there were option plays w/CJ today. Just caused Maryland to spend tome preparing for it.

Keep your politics off this board moron

I've seen a few posts like this. Do we know how the ratio of reps have been over the last couple weeks?

60/40? 50/50? 70/30?

It would seem to make sense for the named starter to get more practice reps, but I don't know how they are split.

I have no idea how reps are split. I saw that Morehouse mentioned that CJ took no snaps with the 1st team on Wednesday. Jon mentioned the same thing is one of his articles this weekend. True or not? Don't really know. Morehouse has pretty solid insider info as does Jon (Morehouse may have been Jon's source) but those guys miss from time to time too. Either way, whoever is getting less 1st team reps is in trouble.

JR did a very good job of managing the game in the first half. A pick-6, 60 run from scrimmage helped give the Hawks great momentum. JR still struggles to be accurate deep. His throw to Powell was a good one and on target, but it was still a line drive with no margin for error. JR cannot get lift and distance on the ball. When JR tries to drive a pass in the 15-25 yard range, he throws high. Yes, JR looked good, today. But his deficiencies are still there and that will come back to haunt the Hawks, again.

But again, he played very well, today. If the passing chart posted in this thread really is from Hawkeye Game Film, then the box will soon be stacked, again, with 8,9 or more. Then, goodbye run game. Don't think we'll score enough points with JR to win the west. The Hawks perimeter run D was exposed today and jNW, Goofey, WUs and kNU can exploit it. Also, don't forget that IU had to play a qb with no pass attempts for 2.5 qtrs. Their offense was handcuffed.

I am bumping my own post because I got so many thumbs down for it.
