Wouldn't it be nice to have a QB that could run

Stanley may be a pro prospect because of his size and arm strength (although that seems a stretch) but in college it's just nice to have a mobile QB. Stanley may be the slowest QB we have ever put on the field. I kept thinking we might have him role out to to avoid some of the pressure but I guess that's not his game. You might be able to get by with a QB with no mobility at Alabama (although they have one) but with teams like Iowa a QB that can extend plays with his feet and make big runs is needed especially when their throwing game is off and it was big time last week and even more today

I have always agreed or at least a guy who has some escapability.

But Kirk is an NFL guy who runs a developmental program for the NFL. He loves the big prototypical NFL qb for his NFL like offense.

Even though he hasn't developed that many qb's for the NFL save the one currently starting in the NFL who he actually tried to hold back here because he apparently didn't like his creativity and slight gunslinger mentality.

God can you imagine if Kirk had taken one of those dozens of NFL offers and ended up coaching Favre or Brees or Rogers or someone with an abundance of God given natural ability with that gunslinger mentaliity?

Lucky for them he has just been slumming it here at lil' old Iowa.

Stanley is not a pro prospect.

You can be the most athletic guy in the world and still not be a pro QB. Ask RG3 how that works.

To play in the pros you have to have the mental game and that’s the biggest area he lacks.

Lol please shut up, don't come to the NW game, you're so fucking jaded. He's not done growing, people 7899234234x above you're pay grade are saying he's a pro prospect. To deny that is just stupid.

And Josh Allen was? He made just as many if not more boneheaded mistakes in his time at Wyoming and still went 2nd.

I know you're pissed Fryowa, and I'm not saying Stanley is Jesus or anything like that, but step off the ledge man.

Does he really need to run or just hit a wide open guy with nobody 20 yards near him? Or if he calls a time out and we get to replay 1st and goal from the 3?

Stanley has showed he can make plays in more of a Big Ben way of shedding tacklers and I think he has the arm strength to make the NFL throws.

Nate just has to improve his accuracy.

This! Plus NFL teams are not looking for people that throw at people’s feet and cant even throw a screen pass.

I would have to check his career stats but gonna go out on a ledge here and say Allen never went 18-49 even on his worst day???

Think about this. 49 attempts and zero TD passes.

18 for 49.

I sincerely hope he can improve the mental aspect and accuracy, but I am just not confident he can.

I dont expect perfection or no mistakes. But the mental errors and missing wide open players by 5-10 yards cant continue. He has to be on a short leash now.

Improve his accuracy by a lot. Some of those throws were embarrassingly bad for any QB beyond the 6th grade. I won't even bring up his lack of pocket presence. Decision-making also needs to improve greatly. I used to think it was just our guys not getting open. Lately, and probably a lot of the time previously, guys have been open quite often. It's just our QB can't either find them or throw an accurate ball when he does. And honestly Nates numbers are inflated this year as our WR, and especially TEs, have made some great catches that were awful throws.

Needs to get his mind straight, too. And that’s a much bigger task.

IMHO he won’t be playing on Sundays.

He's reminding me of VB his last year. What sets apart KF from other coaches is how darned good some aspects of his teams are with a glaring weakness or two that is beyond understanding. But those weaknesses are rarely the same year to year.

The ability to make quick reads and accurate throws. These are the things that make up an NFL QB. Stanley does these 2 things very poorly. That doesn't mean he can't be a successful college QB. Especially with the Iowa defense that PP rolls out there. But I'll eat my underwear (dirty) if NS ever starts an NFL regular season game.

You can't be the star with a deer in the headlight look. The kid has shown us some flashes, but when it comes to taking your team to the 3 yard line, and changing a play with 5 seconds left on the clock proves to me his head isn't in the game. I miss the days of Drew Tate or Stanzi. The kids had balls of steel, and would get in your face, or at least show some damn emotion.. Stanley looks like a world beater against mediocre teams, but against teams, like the PSU's, or the Wisky's of the world.....he literally falls short of the mark

I like Nate Stanley and have never before wanted him benched or replaced, before yesterday. So, I'm far, far from a Nate Stanley hater. That said, if you guys think that Nate Stanley is an NFL QB....you don't know much about NFL QBs. NFL QBs have to go through their progressions in under 2 seconds. They have to consistently make throws into 1'x1' windows from 1 to 30 yards down field. As much as I like Nate Stanley, he is not an accurate QB. He has plenty of stats for some of you to attempt to prove me wrong but ask yourself this question: When was the last time you saw NS hit a WR is stride, exactly where the WRs hands are, 15 yards down field? Whomever thinks they have seen this, will have to show video proof for me to believe it. And even then, you still have to explain how NS can do this 60% of the time at the speed the NFL plays at.
He'll probably get drafted in the later rounds. He has the size and he comes from a pro style offense. Barring some miracle of increased accuracy and resiliency...he'll never start an NFL game.
