Did you see the Mississippi VS. LSU game in which LSU won? LSU has old timey, traditional Iowa-like offense. Not much for passing but LSU's running game is brutal. LSU's defense is brutal as well.
LSU won the game 10-7.
Mississippi showed with its more sophisticated and potent offense that it could get from their 20 yard line into field goal range in less than 1.5 minutes. Probably a case of the dreaded prevent defense LSU was using that last 1.5 minutes which defends nothing.
Today's LSU offense and Iowa's traditional, old timey offense wouldn't have been able to get into field goal range from their 20 yard line in 1.5 minutes or less.
If you get your wish and Iowa reverts to traditional, old timey offense, Iowa won't score a lot of points, won't be able to engineer quick scoring drives, and still have to score loads of points because Iowa's defense isn't all that good. Tell me, how does Iowa win against better teams? Even this: how does Iowa score more than, for example, Maryland if it uses old timey, traditional Iowa offense and has this defense?
