Would an All Time Iowa Team Win A Natl. Championship?

I would say you could take any of the top 40 programs and put together an all-time team that would win a national title against regular teams.

Most teams that have had at least a few elite years would be able to fill the holes on those teams pretty easily.

For example, if you took Iowa 2002 and put Spievey and Fletcher at corner, replace Worthy with Greenway, throw in the 2010 line to add depth and split carries between Russell and Greene it would be a blowout every game. You don't even need the best ever at every position.

going against regular teams who are "all-time" of course it would be a no brainer. a lot of teams could say that though. The better question is what would that teams 2 deeps be. now that would be interesting.

No doubt about it but I think a better question would be who would win an all time ISU team or an all time UI team. It would be pretty even IMO.

Exactly. Maybe even the top 50.

I had 50, then I edited. ;)

If you look at teams like Purdue or Illinois, which I would put in that 40-50 range all time, you take their Big 10 title years and fill the holes and you got yourself a NC team.

The actual better question is would an all-time college team be able to compete with a regular NFL team.

define regular? I think there are years that elite college teams could compete and pull out a victory against a lowly NFL team.

To answer your question. yes, I think an all time college team would beat an avg. NFL team.

No. That would never happen.

I agree. Take Miami in 2001. I don't think they could have hung with the worst NFL team (Panthers) that year. That Panther team had a Heisman QB who sucked in the NFL. It is a different beast.

But I do think that all-time teams could do it.

So I was bored and I was browsing through the CF archives and came across this dandy, http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/football/95871-could-isu-all-star-team-win-all.htm and decided to ask the same question. Could an all time Iowa team win a national championship while competing against regular teams? Personally I think it is a no brainier what does everyone think?

If Iowa played with there best players over the last ten years thy would finish undefeated and probably have a scoring margin of 30 plus.

An O-line of Gallery, Steinbach, Bulaga, Nelson, Reif, Olsen, Yanda, Gray, Ferentz, Vandevle, and 3 or 4 more I forget about.

Tight Ends of Dallas Clark, Tony, Brandon Marshall and Scott Chandler, and 2 or 3 more.

Wide-outs of Kevin Kasper, Hill, Mo Brown, Hinkel, CJ, DJK. Solomon and NcNutt, 1 or 2 more.

Full backs that include Jeremy Allen, Edgar, Tom and Brett,

Running backs.. is Ladell Betts gone more than 10 years? Russell, J Lewis, Albert Young, Shonn Greene, Coker... (or aven A Rob, Wey gone and that other guy)

and at QB Brad Banks, Stanzi, Drew Tate and Chandler...

PK: Nate, Schliker (sp) Punter: Ryan.

Long snapper Andrew Schulz

DLine Colin Cole, Kampman, Clayburn, Roth, Robinson, Klug, King, Kroul, Ballard, J Babeuanox, 3 or 4 more.

Linebackers Barr, Greenway, Hodge, Edds, Angerer, Miles, Morris, Tarpanian, Hunter... I forgot 1 or 2.

DB's Sanders, Speivy, Fletcher, Godwin, Sash, Considine, Pagel, Sapp (once a Hawkeye always a Hawkeye) Prater

The second unit for this team would probably win a National title with a break here and there and no coaching brain farts.
