Worst loss in the KF era

It's pretty clear James Vandenburg gets major jitters on the road. He has looked totally lost in all 3 road games.
It's pretty clear that James Vandenberg is horrible under pressure.

I don't get how he showed so much poise in the Horseshoe two years ago as a freshman, compared to what we saw at the end of today's game against a bad team.

Agreed, along with last year's loss to Minnesota. Garbage, absolute garbage, yeah we missed 24 yd FG I. 1st half but that should NOT be a deciding factor against a TERRIBLE Minny team that lost to an FCS school at home earlier this year

Just a couple things...

1) JVB locks onto 1 receiver every pass play and absolutely can't sense the blitz
2) Our tackling is still horrible
3) Brad Herman should never see the field again
4) Our special teams has been bad for 3 + years now.
5) Changes need to be made. I love Ferentz, but this loss is nonsense. Heads need to roll.

Kirk needs to go. There I said it. 2009 and we win 10 games plus a dominating BCS victory, in 2010 we return about half the starters including the top D-line in the nation (Clayborn, Klug, Ballard and soon Binns all in the NFL) and go 7-5 despite the favorable home schedule compared to 2009?!!

2011 : Defense can't stop ANYBODY. For the 2nd year in a row Iowa gives Minnesota their 1st conference win of the season.

Kirk Ferentz makes 3.5 million a year, at least 3X as much as the highest paid brain surgeon at U of I. As a tax payer I want to puke in the face of Iowa's AD and board of reagents, let's do the math, in 2010 KF had a team full of NFL players and got paid $500,000 a win for it, this year he'll make about $700,000 a win. The modern game of college football has passed this coaching staff by... If the Mike Stoops rumor is true hire him as the HEAD coach and good riddance to the rest of the coaching staff.

Don't take this for lack of appreciation, Norm Parker and Kirk Ferentz are the greatest coaching staff since the Forrest Evashevski era but all good things must come to an end, just like bad things...that's right KF has been a better coach than Hayden Fry.

We did the right thing letting Hayden leave on his own terms, as he lifted our program from the ashes, but he stayed too long which was part of why the program was in such shambles that KF went 1-10 that first year.

Now is the time to change coaching staffs BEFORE we sink even further. Think of the last 4 years. With the exception of the 2009 season (in which we lost to NW and won an UGLY Minny game) we have consistently lost to lowly Indiana, Northwestern AND Minnesota! In 2007 we lost to all 3 and capped it off by losing at home to a Western Michigan team that was a middle-of-the-road MAC team, not even a top mid major team and they flat out played us in all 3 aspects of the game in Kinnick, last game of the year and kept us out of a bowl game. It took Shonn Greene's greatest rushing season in the history if IA football plus a stellar D to bring us to respectable in 2008. We also lost to NW in 2008. 2 onside kicks they recovered to beat us, great job of coaching there too...

KF did give us 3 consecutive top 10 finishes in a row, twice. But that was already a long time ago. He obviously struggles with starti g his own kids over players better than they are, if that didn't cost the team wins it'd be o.k.

The game of college football has obviously passed by KF, NP & KOK. I think losing this last game to a Gawd Awful Minnesota team IS the reason for such harshness and I don't think it's uncalled for nor irrational. Let us NOT settle for the mediocre and disgustingly sub-mediocre Hawkeye fans.

Time for a new regime in Iowa City. Losing to the lowest of the low, consistently for the last 4-5 years is NOT acceptable.

This loss would rank as one of Iowa's top ten losses. It is one of the worst losses I can remember and I have been listening to and (or) watching Iowa football since the 50s. At least during their 20 year run of consecutive losing seasons, we knew we were bad and we got blown out in some games...badly. But a superior program with superior players does not get beat by a team like Minnesota has this year...it simply does not get beat.

And Ferentz will say, "We have some work to do." Unfortunately he means the players, not the coaches as in, "We need to look at all aspects of this team including our coaches and our methods."

But THAT is wishful thinking...

Ferentz and his staff should be incredibly embarrassed about losing to Minnesota. They should also apologize for their lack of game planning to the people of Iowa.

The media should hammer, absolutely hammer this coach and his staff this week but they won't...they won't want to hurt Kirksies feelings. This coach and coaching staff should be roasted like a broiler this week by the press. The media and fans should expect and demand changes from this coaching staff. If Ferentz does not like the treatment he can always resign and take most of staff with him. In fact he can leave anytime, and I hope the door hits him in the a$$ when he leaves.

Heck, I wouldn't even be surprised if some players left this year and some recruits that are committed don't change their minds.

herman x 2 and white. what god damn idiot kok is
This!!! Why the PHUCK does Herman get thrown to twice and White once in the final drive going for the win? Our go to is McNutt and Coker. Someone is a complete idiot. I'm not sure if it is KoK, KF, or both but it is on at least one of them.

I listened to the game on Justin.tv so can someone who watched the game please explain to me why we had Herman and White in the game at the end? Where was Coker & Derby? Why didn't McNutt get passed to?

I would say worst loss since Tulsa 1996, possibly worse than that one too. It's probably the worst team we have lost to in Big Ten play ever, certainly in a very long time. Minnesota will not sniff another win this year, that is a fact that you can take to the bank.
