A fellow Hawk fan sent me an article featuring an interview with Stanford Women's Basketball Coach Tara VanDeveer, who will very soon pass former Duke Coach K to become the winningest college basketball coach in history for both men and women.
Here's a portion that interview our soon to be winningest men's basketball coach should heed:
Coach VanDeveer: "Learn the art of the controlled meltdown."
Interviewer: The controlled meltdown. Can you elaborate on that one?
Coach VanDeveer: "I try to be even-keeled — not get too high or too low. I am intense, but I am not a screamer who gets technical fouls. I want to set a good example for my players by demonstrating self-control."
Comment: Congrats to Coach McCaffery on passing Mr. Davis for the most wins in program history (hopefully tonight!) That is truly impressive. Just wish there wasn't as much of a legacy for losing his cool.
