Woolridge-era unis

Saw a picture of these in a gazette article. Anyone else think we should ditch the Nascar-inspired, trendy, capri-length-shorts jerseys and return to the classic ones we had for most of the '90s? Or the classic ones from the '80s, for that matter.

Me too; they're simple, classic, and refined. Notice that most of the best programs (in football and basketball) don't change their uniforms every 5 years. Let's pick a classic uni and stay with it. It's befitting of a (soon-to-again-be) classy program.

I particularly like the jerseys in that image. Pretty sweet. I like the late 80's ones too, like from 1988 or 1989 or so. I've never been overly fond of the jerseys ever since Alford changed them back in 2002 or whatever it was.

Very nice unis. Classic... with IOWA across the front and legible letters and numerals, incorporating colors black, gold, and white.

interesting when Alfraud took the names off the jersey's to unify the team, but yet he'd only invite Recker to his house to play.

Andre Woolridge was one of the best players to ever wear an Iowa uniform. When it got crunch time in a close game, Andre would, on his own, get the win for the Hawks. i will never understand why he didn't get into the NBA. He was soooo good!

I like the unis. Loved Woolridge.

Don't like the nascar inspired current unis. I got a good chuckle out of the OP. Strong work!

not true! he invited his secretary too, he even let her get in the hot tub with him, he wasnt even upset that she didnt bring a swimsuit either

I'm still wondering exactly why Andre wasn't Big10 POY or an NBA player...still baffles me to this day.

I loved Andre too, so this is in no way meant to trash him, but I remember him being really limited by his ability to go to his off hand.

Other than that, I'm really not sure what limited him...

J10Hawk and DaDynasty prove me right.

You guys (or maybe it's just J10Hawk when it comes to dogging someone's personal life, since Da's comments were re SA's coaching) are just another example of why I laugh when people talk about how Iowan's are so much better than a lot of the rest of the country when it comes to their values. I guess needless gossip isn't considered in poor taste or morally wrong.

I was just checking. You seem to be trying your best to prove that Iowan's don't have anything on anyone else when it comes to character and values, unless you don't live in Iowa and never did.

In the first place, even if he was guilty of some behavior that was less than exemplary, that doesn't make it right to start running him down in a public forum. That just shows how small YOU are. In the second place, since he has been gone for three plus years and pretty much everyone here wanted him gone, one would think you would just be glad he is gone and let sleeping dogs lie. But evidently you are too petty and small for that.

Are those the "Iowa Values" that everyone always talks about? And I wanted Alford gone too, ant the end. I was not a fan of his at the end. But I am less a fan of bad behavior that reflects on ALL Iowa fans and Iowan's in general.

I like the old uniforms. Woolridge didn't get player of the year in the big 10 when he led the league in scoring and assists. Never been done before or since then. Worst snubbing of any player award I can remember. He had that crazy dribble from his right hand between his legs and back to his right hand that didn't seem to do anything, but not allow people to guard him.

Well thank God you you formed that opinion on the comments of one or two message board posters talking about a guy who can't keep his mouth shut about Iowa...

im sorry... i guess i didnt expect to be taken so seriously.
this was a JOKE.
your whole post just made me laugh... im not being a ******* by laughing. i just think its funny how serious you took my 2 sentence message board post.
i can see if i typed some huge long rant about it and tried posting "facts" but i think its pretty clear that this was said in a pretty light hearted tone... kinda like calling Greg Helmers "the computer whiz" or something like that...
and i am small.. like 5'8'' or something. impressive you could tell by my typing style... once again a joke.

Oh, I see J10Hawk.

You slander someone in a public forum and it was oonly a joke that should be laughed off. That just goes to show how small of a person you are.

You went out of your way to gossip about someone and people are just supposed to let it slide. Why sure, you're just a good old boy having some fun. You denigrate someone in a public forum when you could have just not posted anything (what a respectable person would do) and then someone else is wrong for pointing out what a jerk you are. You seem to be quick to point out what someone else did that was wrong but you can't handle it when you are called to the carpet.

I see. It is my fault that you're an idiot. Thanks for letting me know.

Wow! This is a public forum. I don't think it is the place for personal attacks (sound familiar, hint hint). Ease up off of the guy. Besides I thought we were talking about UNIFORMS and ANDRE WOOLRIDGE.

I'll get back to it. I think the classic color, print and trim on that uniform is very nice. However, the trend in unis overall, seems more toward the muscle shirt design and the long shorts. I say classic print and trim with the newer flair hybrid and then we don't look silly out on the floor because we look like were living in the 1990's or earlier. I think the Woolridge years had some long shorts too, just not below the knees.
There, hopefully we are back on topic. And maybe Thawki and your new enemy can settle your differences in personal messages!:)

Oh yeah and some angry sounding comments also killed what seemed to be a nice casual discussion about one of Iowa's best point guards of all time!
