Woody's missed dunk

Hilarious.

That changed the momentum of the game. Purdue's crowd went NUTS and then homeboy hit that deep 3.

I know we won, but that was a momentum changing play.

Spangler pulled a Woodbury against the clones. He somehow had an air ball layup that went backwards

Let's say "stupid" is the rim.

Guess what?

You're not Woody. You slammed it home.

I know everyone loves to hate on Woody, but Iowa doesn't win the game without him shutting down Purdue's bigs in the second half.

We always hear about the 6'8" dudes with a 7' wingspan. How about our 7' center with a 4'8" wingspan and a 3 " vert?

Was wicked awesome. I used to stick up for him saying dunking is overrated, and he can dunk just fine, but really, he really can't dunk very well at all. It's pretty bad. Still thought he did ok though and is a great hawk. If I ever came across him in a bar, his drinks would be covered as a hawk.

Pay attention to impact on the game. Woody has a lot of that. A missed dunk has no more effect on the outcome of the game than a missed layup, and Iowa has a lot of those every game from players not named Woodbury.

But I still wish he would've made that slam.

The Woodbury dunking debate is old. So he missed one. I cannot find the slow mo video from today's game, but he was clearly above the rim by quite a ways. The ball started to slip out of his hand and he missed the dunk. Can he dunk, yes. Does he have ups, no!

Woody is a white t-rex. The Cubs can't win a division.

Which one is in control of the description of them?

I think Adam got a bit too close to the backboard and the angle caused him to miss. However, I think he hit two nice midrange jump shots and in both the last two games moved well around the basket. As someone else pointed out, guys miss layups all the time, only that in the case of this dunk the rebound didn't lend itself to an easy put back. Woody also deserves credit in the second half for not letting Purdue's big guys score at will. I guess there a lots of fans out there that want Woody to be someone that he is not that plays a super power game slamming everything in sight and have not figured out yet that this is not who he is. I am glad he chose Iowa and suspect he'll have a nice pro career even if the NBA is not a part of it.

So you just wanted to bag on the kid anyway. Despite the win, and the fact he was a big part of it on the defensive end. Was that your point?

Woody had a really good game, great effort, above avg line score. More than worry about the missed dunk I think he could have improved his footwork around the basket, drop step moves, getting his feet under him and powering his way up.

If he has paid a lot of money to people who run big man camps he should ask for a partial refund because with just a few extra moves and better footwork on the offensive end Woody would be awesome.

When a 7 footer misses a breakaway dunk that bad...people notice. He didn't say woody doesn't have a soul...he said it was a momentum boost for purdue...and it DEFINITELY was...he came back down and didn't play defense...compounded a bad play.

And they hit a 3. 5pt swing in 20 seconds.

I hear what you're saying. And you and the op are right about the momentum swing. I just think Woody's the whipping boy too often. It was a great win. Why point out the mistake he made? BC he's an easy target? Sorry, I'm done being the over protective den mother. Go Hawks!

We should make threads for every play that takes place in a basketball game
