woody sap gez: 2 for 20

I didn't get to watch the first 25 minutes, but the 15 minutes I did watch were so typical of the recent past. Quite frankly it is like the plot of the movie Ground Hog Day. I'm trying to get over my disappointment after such a promising start. It is easy to put the blame on this or that player or on the coaches, but you can't single out just one thing with this team. Going 2 of 20 by three starters probably says as much as anything.

It is maddening how many layups we miss. I don't watch a ton of games from other teams, but in all seriousness I can't think of another team that misses even a third as many layups as Iowa does.

The thing is, every team knows how to beat us now. Just make the MG or AC shoot from the outside, and sag way off of woody. There was one time late in the game where Woody caught it at the free throw line and all defenders ran away from him to cover everyone else up. He took another horrible looking shot. That's smart. Their coach knows how to adjust. Ours either doesn't or just doesn't have the guys to overcome that kind of offensive suckiness. I mean seriously if we can't but a group in there that can't do any better than those 3 today, Fran's hands are tied.

Pretty good summary... It's hard to win with 2 non-scoring PGs and C in the starting lineup. The bench showed early promise but that's kind of subsided.

No go to guy on this team nor on any team Fran has fielded while at Iowa. No true leader.

Why didn't they press most of the 2nd half? The younger players are long and athletic and that press worked when they ran it.

Sapp has been pretty solid all year. I feel bad he saved his worse game for the B1G tourney.

At least Woody isn't the worst wide open layup shooter on the team any more. Miraculously, someone was able to steal that honor from him.
