Woody, Gesell not on Mc AA team

Honestly, I am amazed it took until page two for the butt hurt to flow. I expected this in the first 5 comments.

So you don't believe school of choice plays any part in a selection process that is essentially a popularity contest?

If that is your assumption its pretty naive.

On the East team, 8 of the 12 are either uncommitted, or committed to a team currently outside of the top 25. Same for the west team.

So, as it stands, 66% of the Burger Boys are not affiliated with a top program. I am sure school choice plays a factor, but it doesn't seem to play a very big factor now, does it?

And how many of those uncommited hold offers from the "name" programs?"

Im guessing its a pretty high percentage.

Being uncommitted is probably the best way to get in assuming you have multiple big names associated with you.

All things being the same. If Woodbry had commited to UNC, he would be a Mc D AA in my opinion. It would be nice to tout that one of our recruits was an AA, but in the end there are plenty of them that never make a huge impact at the college level.

does this mean herby is going to **** and moan about how our recruits get no love because they are our recruits? it is no big deal. they are both good we know it. they know it. and the big 10 and country will know it next yr if they dont already.

its a pretty safe bet
that he will start that thread
in two or three days

Some Iowa fans will find anything to ***** about. The guy was ranked the seventh best big man in the country and someone on this thread pointed out that there aren't a lot of true centers named to this team. Is it really such a shock that he didn't make it, or the Gessel didn't make it while not actually being a top 40 player?

Meanwhile Paige (an Iowa high school athlete who was probably expected to make the team independent of where he chose to go to college) made it and I thought I saw a total of one person compliment him. Some of you act like the whole team should have been made up of Iowa players or something. I'm surprised Ingram and Clemens didn't make it, too.

What a bunch of complainers. This rates right up there with the guy on the football board who wasn't mad about Phil Parker getting the DC job, but he was ticked off about how long it took to name him. He actually wasted time typing this out and putting it in a message on the football board.

It says a lot about those people assuming that he would make the team if he committed to UNC. If you didn't know, the world is against the Hawks...

It's a nice honor for the kids selected but I'm glad neither were picked. Better to have something to prove. See Aaron White.

Lafrentz,Hinrich,Collison,Barnes,Paige....all will play for Roy Williams. Iowa...the personal farm system for Roy Williams......ouch.

How're ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they see Chapel Hill?

He didn't have much of a chance. There a ton of good big guys in the 2012 class and a lot ranked higher than Woodbury. And no he wouldn't have made it just because he signed with UNC.

Last five Iowa McDonalds AA's?

Hinrich was not a McDonald's AA. Iowa has had five McDonald's AA's. The one you missed is Al Lorenzen.

There is no way they would allow more then 1 kid from Iowa in that game. New York, Texas, California etc is fine but not Iowa that state doesnt have enough good players. Hell even the year Hinrich and Collison came out only 1 made it. Its a joke.

hinrich developed into a great player but coming out of hs there were a lot of questions about how well he would do. in fact being in nw iowa and playing against him i know there were a lot of people that thought he would never start at kansas. but he showed a lot of growth during his time at kansas.
