Hopefully those stubby arms will grow over the next year.
Oops, arms are done growing.

I thought our sophomore center and freshmen shooting guard both looked very good last night. There's a lot of reasons to be optimistic moving forward.
Woody was a man on Wednesday night and there's nothing I've seen that leads me to believe he can't be a man every night if given the chance.
How many times this year have we seen Iowa with an obvious advantage down low with our bigs, only to see the same guys jacking up the same shots from the outside time after time after time as the lead dwindles and/or the Hawks fall behind? Our front court turned into nothing but screeners and rebounders when our guards should have been going out of the way to get them the rock. Maybe that will change when Marble is gone and we don't have anyone who can drive and create their own shot next year and we have to play inside out.
Gabe is better than Woody 'cause he has better strength, rips down the rebound, and plays more physically in the post.
That Tennessee center is a yeti (strength and athleticism, wise). Why Woody played better in the Tenn game than Gabe.. Woody couldn't out muscle the yeti (he never tries to - never can, unless he wants to impress/flip off the Iowa fans) so he dribbled around him. Gabe couldn't outmuscle the yeti and Gabe doesn't have the skill set to dribble around the yeti, either.
So, Woody needs to get stronger and work on 'strength' moves (offense and defense) in the post. Gabe needs to learn how to drop step, fake and have an altogether more 'finesse' game (offense and defense) in the post.
Which of the 2 types of games does Iowa have a lot of in its players, and which of the 2 types does Iowa desperately need?Anyone that thinks gabe is better than woody just needs to look at the consistency...woody doesn't have the athleticism of gabe but he is a better basketball player and he put on a clinic yesterday. I think he will really blossom next yr. gabe is a great back up with some upside but he has his deficiencies because he is so young in bball age.
