Bvak has followed Woody for a long time, he is a great resource when it comes to covering him.

He is a very talented kid. If he works hard he could make a lot of money playing basketball someday.

Very nice looking shot. With it and his arsenal of weapons, especially his jump hook, Adam should be difficult to stop on a consistent basis.

I do believe he will be an impact player before his first season is over. The benefits to his teammates will be palpable.....

:D

What he lacks in athleticism, he makes up for with hustle and pure basketball skill. A jump hook with touch (with either hand), this nice little turnaround jumper, and his passing ability are going to be tremendous weapons offensively. He may get pushed around some as a freshman, but when he adds more weight to his frame, he could be scary good.

As I noted in another thread, he is up to 245 lb now. That's terrific for a HS senior. He has really bulked up since this summer.

The "other" AW is looking improved from last year & this summer. The main things to me, are his shot reach has extended on the jump hook, and he looks noticeably bigger. If he can get some more jumps and learn to dunk hard, then he will be another Zeller. Love how he can go with either hand! That and the way he runs the floor.

Very excited for Hawkeye basketball 2012-2013! We will be able to have some very tall lineups that can run the floor. Match problem delight! Add our three guards and Mr Meyer, and we will do some damage in the B1G! Love it!

Patent those hook shots and it will be difficult, very difficult to block a 7' 1" hook shot. With his passing ability, if they double team Iowa will have an abundance of scorers hanging around the basket...

Just the addition of a talented 7'1" center adds an entire dimension to a team. Add a center who has a left/right handed hook shot and a center who has nice hands and can pass well and you have another dimension. Now add another 6' 10 or 6'11" player with different abilities and you have another dimension. Add talented forwards and guards that can shoot and penetrate and a team that likes to get out and run and Iowa suddenly is a team to consider.

Love the way he shut that one screaming kid up! I said a couple of weeks ago that they will need one of the bigs to develop a Tim Duncan type game.

Looks like they already have one. These types of soft shots will work great with Mel's garbage put back game.

Wasn't that the scouting report for Brennan Cougill?

Holy Lord, I have to apologize to Adam for saying that!

245 is plenty heavy.

I would be more concerned with him just adding strength which might add 10 more pounds to him.

I think some people don't understand basketball is not football. You don't want guys adding 30 pounds of bulk to play basketball. Look at Gatens he is much better playing at 205 rather than 225, because he can move better laterally.

Most basketball players just have to actually start lifting weights rather than worrying about bulking up a ton.

Adam's body looks fine, he is not skinny. He just needs to get on campus and hit the weights.

Lol, I couldn't tell you what Cougs' scouting report was. Woodbury has way more athleticism than Cougs, though. Just not elite like a Leonard or Zeller.

The big question will be can he hold his position on the block as a frosh. 7'1'' guys often get shoved off their spot as frosh...Leonard at Illinois did not have the lower body strength as a frosh, but does as a soph. Zeller has it as a frosh. I think that Woody has more lower body strength than Leonard at the same point, and maybe as much as Zeller. I watched some of the McDonalds game the other day and Zeller looked noticebly thinner a year ago.

One thing that really is encouraging about Woody is his dedication to honing his game. His HS coach commented that he has to chase him out of the gym at times.
That kind of ethic is how you develop absolute rock solid jump hooks with both hands, and postup footwork, which is deadly at his size. Hopefully,he is also always working on his explosion, which seems to be the only missing ingrediant that could keep him out of the NBA someday. If he could get close to Erik Hansen in terms of quick leaping ability...look out!

Woodbury had 28 pts and 21 rbs in a win over SC north.
not sure how you can claim he is not in Zeller or Leonard class, unless you look strictly at *'s,
neither Zeller or Leonard earned the NBA Top 100 camp MVP, which Woodbury did,
Dunks are pretty but i will take the rebounds and blks over any lack of dunking he doesn't do to satisfy some of you

Well, both Zeller and Leonard are dominating the Big 10, and Woodbury is dominating SC North. Woodbury will be a good one, but he will not match either of those two next year.

This. I think as a freshman, he'll fall somewhere between where Leonard was last year and where Zeller is this year, while probably leaning a little towards the Leonard side of that spectrum. And as he gets older, he'll become a dominant force. But probably not as a freshman (hope I'm wrong, though).

I have a feeling that this time next season, we will be talking about Adam the same way we are talking about Aaron White this year, and Melsohn last year.....

:)
