When the pairings came out it was somewhat universal that Iowa, as the 2nd number one seed, got the short straw in terms of difficulty. The Portland 4 region where Texas was the number one seed proved to be the weakest of the 4 regions. Texas by far had the easiest path to the elite 8. Based on results Indiana really was under seeded as a 4 seed in South Carolina's bracket. Ohio State had to be the biggest disappointment as a 2 seed by not making it to the sweet 16. Another 2 seeded team that scrapped by was Stanford, a number 2 seed. Iowa State just about had them beat. ISU was probably under seeded as a 7. The other Big Ten teams didn't fair well. Nebraska (6) got bounced by TxA&M in round 2, MSU (9), Michigan (9), Maryland (10) were all 1st round losers.
The four PAC 12 schools coming to the big ten this fall will impact the standings. USC and UCLA are probably the conference favorites for next year. Maryland will bounce back. Ohio State has a good nucleus coming back. It will be a rebuilding year at Iowa. Affolder, McCabe, Stulke, Feuerbach, and OGrady, are in line to get starting positions. There are some good freshmen coming in.
