With 2 Full rides to give, Iowa should

Do what? Get whom at what position? When? From where?
The fact that we are definitely 'trending up' would seem to bode well for getting a
couple of quality kids to join the Hawkeyes.

Next year looks like this:

Guards: Gesell Sr; Sapp Sr; Jok Jr;

Forwards: Uthoff, Sr; Uhl Soph; Baer, RS frosh

Center: Woody, Sr

4 incoming freshman; 3 guards & 1 forward, I think.

So---------what's the plan?

Beg Wyatt Lohaus to transfer and give him both scholarships.

Dang .... do let Fartfax read this! That could dismantle an MVC team.

I trust Fran. Hope we get a legit big. Not sure what happened to Ike but I have had my fingers crossed that we get him. Looked like Olesani v 2.0 to me. A great PG would be nice also.

Priorities
1. Big man - 5th yr/JUCO... HS if there are any solid players left.
2. PG - JUCO/HS

Yeah, wow. let's hope there's someone over at Carver with a better plan.

Let's hope we don't wait too long, AGAIN........then reach for a JUCO pg that wasn't
ready, or the 98th best shooting guard in NW Wisconsin.

Especially, when there are PLENTY of solid, solid IOWA kids available.

After that choke job I just watched UNI throw up on the road, I think we need to stay away from Iowa kids. If the best Iowa kids can't even win the 10th best conference in the country, they sure as hell won't be able to get us into the upper division in the B10.

I'd like to see Iowa sign two bigs to round out the class. It petrifies me to think that right now Woodbury is literally the only big with any experience that will still be on the roster next season. Uthoff and Uhl are tall, but they aren't 4's. They have the combined weight of a 4. Gessell and Clemmons can hold down the PG spot next season, and then Fran can press really hard for a top PG recruit for 2016. But if we don't add a couple of bigs that are talented enough to see the floor next season we're in trouble. A team like Purdue with a couple good bigs will dominate us down low.

I wonder how much Fran wants to let this season play out to see if a run is in the making and see if that can generate some real buzz to get top notch Juco pg/bigs? I'm reading of several HS kids and Juco's that are all but asking for an offer from Iowa. There is interest, but maybe Fran is just waiting to see how the season ends.

Get the following:

1. Novian Cherry
2. Big man that's a low post presence from another program--Graduate Student/JUCO

Hoiberg seems to do well with players like Kane last year & Dejean-Jones this year. Why not the Hawkeye?

Good point. There are several decent players out there wanting to be a Hawkeye. And we may take them. But if we finish strong, that could change the game... That and Dickerson leaving certainly changes the recruiting, as Fran can be more comfortable with any selection. It doesnt necessarily need to be a home run.. There are several weeks to finish this up after the season. Fran is busy, but I imagine he will lock this up in the early to middle of April...

Why do that when we can still get a Bohannon?

Yeah, Bohannon is sure No Trent Dickerson, or the 85th best shooting guard in Door County, WI.

Jordan Bohannon scored 30 points on 6 3 pt field goals, leading his Top 10 ranked LinnMar team to
State on Friday.

Yeah, he's no Tray Dickerson, to be sure.

Eye-roll

We will have 2 senior PG's and Moss might be able to play spot minutes if need be.

I would much rather see us spend both schollys on 2 bigs. 1 JUCO or grad transfer and 1 high schooler. You saw what happened to Indiana without a big man last night.

We can go after a 2016 PG with the lure of immediate playing time.

Bohannon is no Dickerson, and Dickerson isn't even a quality B1G guard. If we want to keep going to the NCAA's we need players like Fran is bringing in......not kids that only UNI offers.

Iowa produces some rock solid players and once in a while a great player. It all comes down to what we need on this roster. His shooting ability intrigues me but I am not sure we need what he brings based on who we have coming in.

Ben J at UNI can take a lot of these Iowa kids and get a title contender in the MVC now and then. Sometimes he can upset a big boy or two. For the U of Iowa though we not only need rock solid players but elite athletes based on the night in, night out competition we face from other power 5/6 basketball schools. That would be my worry with Bohannen is can he hack it athletically?

I trust Fran and the types of athletes and players he is interested in. Love the length and multi-faceted players he recruits as well.
