Wisky loses 4 football coaches

That's a lot of turnover. Hoping Wisky's little run of success is over now and they come back down to 7 win area ala 2008.

Bielema must replace four UW assistants - Big Ten Blog - ESPN

Purdue is also rumored to be losing two D coaches. Man the Leaders Division is a mess: PSU, enough said. OSU on post season probation. IL, new coach and new DC changes his mind to stay in NC. WISKY major staff turnover and losing a lot of players. PU, staff turnover. NW, loses a lot of players.

Its called natural progression for coaches that are actually good at their jobs.

You're so clever by taking shots at the current staff with little gems like this.

When is the last time this many coaches left one staff in the same off-season? It doesnt happen often at all and that is what the OP was getting at. Cant we just have one thread where there isnt cheap shots being taken at KF or the staff?

$200K to be a position coach in Iowa City, Iowa is a pretty solid gig.

It doesn't necessarily mean you aren't in demand or are a crappy coach...But that's what back to back 7-5 seasons will yield, I guess...

Do you think they are leaving Wisky because of their lack of success? No.
Do you think they are leaving Wisky because their program is headed in the wrong direction? No.
Do you think that other athletic programs see what Wisky has done over the past several years and think to themselves, damn, that's pretty impressive? Yes.

I didn't mention the Iowa program or lack of promotions for our current staff but it seems that it weighs heavily on your mind. What ***'t wouldn't want to take a higher paying, more prestigious opportunity? Answer: Those that aren't good enough to be offered the opportunity.

More importantly he is losing Wilson and likely Ball, and will most likely be starting a true freshman at QB next year.

The issue isn't that they are leaving the program, the issue is they are leaving the program in large part to go join the offensive coordinator at a lessor school.

It is more of a reflection on Biles I think than on Wisconsin.

Your point is well taken. Coaches tend to leave successful programs, which is part of why it's hard to maintain success. Or coaches don't leave programs and they can stagnate, which is part of why it's hard to maintain success.

You did conveniently fail to notice, however, that the original post said two coaches are rumored to be leaving Purdue. So coaches leaving isn't necessarily a sign of success on the field.

As for Wisconsin, I think they'll be fine, but they were due for a return to Earth regardless. Losing two senior QBs in a row (one a ringer) will do that. Losing your great offensive coordinator certainly isn't going to help.

Im not disagreeing with any of the questions you just asked yourself. My point was that the OP started a thread about Wisky losing 4 assistant coaches and the very first reply in it had to be a subtle shot at our staff. All I am saying is it gets old.

I think it is more like Paul Chryst wants to fill his staff with people he worked with. I think one could argue that DelVaughn Alexander is taking a step backwards to leave UW to be WR coach at ASU (weirdly enough, hired by ex-Pitt coach Todd Graham...)

I can't see why anyone would find this to be a ding on Wisky. Good coaches get offers. Good coaches want to expand their knowledge base and work with people who come at things from a difference perspective. It's why I don't fault Rick K for leaving (or being helped out the door). If your assistants are all being recruited, as a head coach, you're probably doing things right.

LOL. I have news for you- coaches on Iowa's staff have had interest from other schools/jobs but stayed for a number of reasons, being loyal to KF being one of them. If you don't think Doyle has had chances to go other places you are clueless. Just to give you an example.

hopefully Wilson doesnt leave for their linebacker coaching spot if Ferents selects phil parker as the D coordinator

Ha, yes this staff is just crawling with innovation and forward thinking on both sides of the ball. Who interviewed O'Keefe a couple years ago? Some DIII school if I remember correctly. He must have really made an impression
