Again Gesell trying to take over at the end of the game. I think he succeeded once but he is not a clutch player.
It's been awhile since we've had a clutch player. :-(

So...ya suppose Fran has Oglesclank in to hit the big shots to bring us back? What a.frickin dope.
Fran... every time u play that guy, u look like a complete chimp of a coach.
Same old story but seeing the fans sitting on their *sses with 10 min left and were only down 12. Some crowd involvement could of got a run going but I guess they just figured this team isn't capable of that. Pathetic really sums it up for this team.
A few calls could have gone either way but I don't think the refs had anything to do with our loss.Give. A rest Nick, it's nauseating to read the same **** over and over...
When the team doesn't have a fired up attitude and at least look like they'll do anything to win it trickles down to the crowd. We are a passive team.Same old story but seeing the fans sitting on their *sses with 10 min left and were only down 12. Still reminds me a lot of a Tom Davis era team without the pressing.
-High effort but athletically limited players
-Offense can score if they can get out and run
-Very poor half court offense
-Give up way too many wide open 3s
-Completely random sub patterns
-Really struggles with the top of the B1G, even at home
-.500 conference team
I missed 95% of the game, but when I flip on the TV what I see is a perfect example of what's wrong with IOWA bball.
Down 13, Gessell brings the ball down court, they leave him wide open at the 3 point line. Any other player would plant at the 3 point line and shoot. He hesitates...backs out, looks to pass.
BINGO. And he always won in the tournament too.Tom Davis also got his teams into the NCAAs.
There's got to be a barb in there somewhere about JO.Fran said in post-game that Mike had a hyper-extended elbow and could not shoot the three.
Davis's teams could shoot and they could rebound. But I was thinking that Fran's style reminded me of Mr. Davis's, when Barta hired him. The difference was that I thought Fran was a tireless recruiter. And he might be. Tirelessly failing to land difference making recruits.Still reminds me a lot of a Tom Davis era team without the pressing.
