"Wish Stormin' Spamks is here" game thread!

I was very impressed by the defense tonight. They really picked it up at that end of the court.

5th year in a row we've improved under Fran. Opposite of how things went down last year. I'm out. Thanks to the posters. Congrats Hawk players and coaches.

Wow, this team has really found it's identity. Best ball we've seen under Fran.

At the risk of pizzing some of you off, I'm gonna say this:

It would have happened earlier (as in perhaps last year) had Fran not turned his team into the Dev Marble feature. Basketball is still a team game that requires great chemistry.

These guys are looking like they could be playing on the second weekend of March Madness. Go Hawks!

You could say that, but it just as easily could be that the other players didn't step up. I think of some games that White disappeared last year or the games when McCabe would be 0/8 from deep.

I wasn't confident after the penn state game. I put the probability of winning this game at 35%. Short turn around, road game, team that likes to shoot 3's are all not good for iowa. Iowa more or less dominated the 2nd half of this game, indy looked like a defeated team. Played like men tonight. Now for some payback against NW, go into the BTT on a 6 game win streak and hopefully get a top 4 seed.

Good job by Pete keepin his chin up and knockin down a couple of 3s in second half. Also really good adjustments by the coaching staff defensively and not allowing open 3s in 2nd half. All around good game for the Hawks getting their 6th conference road win! GO HAWKS!!

Tom Crean with his coaching smarts yelling "box out" as Iowa has nobody in the lane during a free throw.

Maybe he was on the cell phone with his wife telling her to get the boxes out and to find a Uhaul rental. Indiana fans don't take to kindly to losing by 14 at home. :) Boo Hoosiers...... Lol

yep. Hard to say.

We know one thing -- last year is over.

It's not weighing on this team. The demons appear to have been exorcised.

There's mental toughness. There's leadership. There's chemistry.

So true! It's a really big deal too because if this team didn't get turned around, it might have taken a roster turnover to change the mentality of the players.

Wow what a ******* stupid post. It was definitely the fault of our 1st team All B10 guard who averaged 20.7 ppg/5.7 apg/1.3 tpg down the stretch without him we would have been much better. I mean we had Gesell shooting 21% (not a typo) over his last seven games, Uthoff shooting 22% from 3 in B10 play, and White refusing to take any shot outside of a layup. Yep, def was all Dev's fault.

Agreed, blaming Marble is the height of stupidity. Each player who came back from last year is significantly improved over last year (maybe Ogs is the exception, but he might have righted the ship). The PG play (Gesell + Clemmons) over the last half of the B1G has been night and day better from earlier in the year, let alone from last year. Marble did all he could, too bad some of the other players didn't develop as quickly as we had hoped......yet that is last year, and this is now. The players are stepping up and it is great to see them do that, I am happy for them and Fran that their hard work is paying off.

He's gona be a beast as an upperclassman.

Most raw talent Iowas seen since Tyler Smith.

Ehh.. I don't see the Smith comparison. He averaged 15/5/3.5 as a freshman. Look at that line, and for a freshman in the B10, I even forgot just how good he was. I like Uhl but he isn't close to Tyler Smith.

I'm not saying it's a good comparison now, just see body type, athleticism and general ball skills.

Uhl is not nearly as good as smith now but has the tools to be an even better player.

I am confident he will be an all big ten player.
