Wisconsin loss good or bad....

Damn JBo....why did we recruit this kid anyway?

56, you're right, he would look better in crimson and gold.....we need to dump this kid...

Like I said in another thread, Iowa 68-61.....the zone, the pressure outside limits any guard penetration, we limit our mistakes, take Happ out foul trouble, whatever it takes. Our kids are loose, our kids are confident, our kids just won in Maryland....I think I'll drink another Elliot Ness Amber Lager and sir back and look forward to Thursday night .....go gawks....

Officiating is going to play a part too. If they allow the WI bigs to just lower a shoulder and run over our guys, thats not good. Cause thats all their inside guys seem to know how to do.

Happ did foul out of the game but the others were not in foul trouble. MSU had four players with four fouls each.

We have had so much success in Madison...I don't know why it wouldn't continue. Seriously guys...Wisconsin losing yesterday keeps them pretty damn motivated. They have two inside guys we are going to have a ton of problems guarding...Happ and Hayes. This is a veteran team and if you just play zone against them, they will bury threes all day...they will also get the ball inside, but unlike Maryland, they have guys that will score or get fouled.

I'm not saying we can't win, but throw how they are playing out the door...they will be motivated Thursday, and they are a veteran group...they haven't forgotten how to win. And if we are keeping score...McQuaid from MSU played out of his head yesterday...which was seriously unexpected...they don't win without that game from him. That was a war yesterday between Wisky and MSU and if it's allowed to be that physical Thursday, we don't measure up. (see previous Illinois / MSU games).

I only saw the first 5 mins or so of the Wisky-MSU game. Wisky isn't unbeatable as good as they are. I think we'll certainly have our hands full no matter what but I like our chances of beating them a lot more now then a did just a few days ago anyway.

I was a little worried after Minnesota won at Maryland that it would wake up the Terps for our game. Turned out, it didn't matter.

Wisconsin isn't playing well. We are.

That said, I think we lose a close one up there. And, believe me, I hope I'm dead wrong.

Pretty much how I see it. Normally it would concern me that Wisconsin just lost, but they've lost 4 of 5, so as you said, they just aren't playing well.

Still a tall task to win in Madison, but I do like our chances.

They are a very good team, despite their recent record and will be extremely difficult to beat at home, but if we continue to play as well as the Maryland game, we could prevail. I would imagine they will be determined to stop Jordan, perhaps putting that lad with the nasty face, Showalter on him, senior who plays excellent D. Will need Peter to have one of his best games. Might not be able to double team both of our deadly snipers. Click on all cylinders and we win and could be on the bubble, especially with a victory against Penn State at Carver.....

Still going to be a tough game. Wisconsin by four. Hope I am also very wrong on this.....

Looking for a close hard fought game. I do believe we have a deeper, more efficient bench. Fran is doing very well with his substitution patterns the last two games.....

GO HAWKS.....!

Looks like Wisconsin plays Minnesota after us - they could go into the Big Ten Tournament in a tailspin. I watched most of their game today and it really wasn't close. Michigan State was very motivated and outplayed them. Doesn't seem like they have the killer instinct they usually have.

Really wish we played them after the Minnesota game. The gophers take a lot out of teams, pounding them senseless with their relentless attack and aggresive D.....

Win or lose, the Minnesota game might, depending on the point spread, be one to take the gophers.....

I, of course, will Not be betting on any game in the Universe.....

very lucky? Meh. Iowa was in the (quote)typical late-season Fran swoon (unquote) when playing these teams. It's college basketball. It ebbs. It flows. Over a season. Over a series of games. During a game.

Hawks have played some good ball for the last 35 minutes of Indiana and 40 minutes at Maryland. Indiana was a gut check and Maryland was unbelievable shooting. That can carry a team for a few games.

It doesn't matter against who you get your confidence. Only that you get it.

The late swoon by Maryland and Wisconsin certainly seems similar to Fran's late season swoons, especially last season after the stellar start, gaining a top position in KenPom for a week or so, and I believe number Three in the AP top 25.....

Guess it happens to other teams also.....
