Wisconsin is going to "B" rian "F" erents us

While I agree that Wisconsin is very good they should have lost today. Purdue beat themselves with turnovers and penalties. They blocked a punt and should have had a touchdown but the guy fell down and they missed a field goal. Later they were driving again and threw an interception. The Purdue defense held them scoreless in the second half. This game was at Wisconsin. It will be a big challenge but I think the Hawks can beat Wisconsin.

I roll my eyes at this because that is the narrative for every Wisconsin game. Hornibrook’s play doesn’t matter they still win.

Wisconsin has not played a team with a winning record. I think they are beatable as soon as they play someone with a pulse. I mean,..Florida Alantic did beat Bethune-Cookman, but I'm not ready to say they are a top tier football team. Wisconsin is a pretender at this juncture for me.

With that schedule though...we have to pray for the douche head coaches in Minnesota or Michigan can pull one out of the fire. I'm just not sold on Wisconsin's offense or defense.

MN is not beating WI.

I feel differently. It is in the college sporting tradition for some middling team with some new hungry coach to rally for 1 game against some proposed giant and snake bite them. I think Minny has more than a punchers chance to beat Whisky. I think the same applies to the Iowa Minnesota game this year. Also Purdue has me legitimately worried.

I do so hope I'm wrong and will eat crow but I don't see any way we don't get blown out there thus year. :/

I'll withhold judgement on W until they play somebody with a pulse. I think If Iowa plays well (big IF) they'll have a chance to win.

The truth is Iowa pretty much always has a chance to beat their opponent. I know that alot will cite the recent bowl performances as contrary to my statement, but I believe those games have been more of an outlier than the norm.

You mean it's not normal for football teams to take an entire month or longer off in between games and then expect to come out firing on all cylinders for essential exhibition games where the team gets to go on a week long vacation before hand?

Soft schedule or not, Wisconsin is legitimate. Personally, I don't see a weakness anywhere. Hornibrook isn't all-world, but he doesn't need to be. Outstanding RB with a very good O-line. Game-breaker who will kill with play-action in Cephus. Very good TE in Fumagalli (when healthy), and a defense that is solid at every level. The linebackers get all the press, but those corners are very, very good, and the D-line is stout.

We always play them tough, and I think it will be reasonably close in the 1st half. As the game goes on, I honestly don't see our DTs holding up, which will result in some methodical long scoring drives to close it out. If we are to have any chance at pulling it out, we will have to have long sustained drives that result in TDs. That's a tall task but not insurmountable.

Thanks to realignment and B1G West schedules and cross over games Wisconsin could be a top 25 to 15 level team and go 11-1 for the season.

5 straight is not an outlier, it's a pattern. Kinda the opposite of "outlier".

5 straight is most definitely a slanted perspective. You don't mention that in between "5 straight" there were 12 games each. The bowl games should factor no different than any other game. So the blowout losses are still an outlier. My statement holds true. Statistically Iowa has a chance to beat most opponents it faces.
