Wisconsin Fans Booing Team Down 20 at Half

Yep, the AD (McIntosh) is going to have a hard time separating himself from Fickell after he prematurely fired both Chryst and Leonhard. Otherwise Fickell might be gone by now. Instead we may see a double firing of Coach/AD.

I could see those better dead than red a-holes thinking now would be the perfect time to bring back Pollard and have him hire Campbell. I would be shocked if those two had any interest, but I could see Wisconsin assuming they'd want to do it. Hope they flail away in Madison. I'm ready for 1980s Wisconsin again - both football and basketball.
What a curve ball that'd be.... I wouldn't have thought of that... I don't see it happening but Wisky has more $ more everything then ISU ever will. Pollard could be getting tired of the financial restraints. Hell he's been at ISU quite awhile now. Crazier things have happened I suppose. But just looking at where the programs currently are I couldn't see Campbell doing that. He's already turned down way better opportunities.

Pollard is not going anywhere. He is safe, beloved, and has built something out of nothing. He would be a fool to leave the safe confines of The Big Top.

Besides, schools don't back up the Brinks Truck for ADs like that.

You'd think, given their history, the open checkbooks would've gone to the basketball team.
I read a few articles and the president and AD both assured Cignetti that they were committed to helping build a winner when interviewing him. I imagine donors got tired of losing, and opened the checkbooks and were told by administration "This is what it's going to take." Somewhere, I read surprisingly IU has deep pockets.

I was surprised by the article I posted above that they were #6 in NIL spending for all of college football. Granted Penn State, tOSU, and Oregon were all top 10 as well.

And take nothing away from Cignetti. He has done of helluva job, but it shows the power of the almighty dollar when you can get donors behind you to build a winner from nothing.

Nope. I think he'd be more likely to retire than go somewhere else. Or maybe one final gig as a commissioner. Or possibly even something outside of sports.

That won't necessarily stop Wisconsin from thinking about it.

I hope it's another yr or 2 down the road yet till we cross that bridge. But as the wks have gone on here I kinda think this might end up being it for him... I wonder how he'll go about it. Timing wise/how he announces it etc. It's just hard to say how he'd do it too.

He's too low key of a coach to announce it before the season starts and having the entire season be a farewell tour. IMO it'll be known to his inner circle in advance so they can start looking or figuring out who the next man in will be, and then announced after his last game.

If an internal predecessor is decided upon I can see it being known ahead of time and announced early on, however I don't see KF being the type of person that wants/needs that attention and would view it as a distraction to the team which is why I see him quietly riding off into the sunset.

Yeah if he were to decide during the yr I don't think he'd let that out beyond his most trusted of friends on the staff. He wouldn't want that getting out. It's so tough for that to not leak out. His inner circle of his wife, kids, Barnes and Parker is about as far out as I think he'd go with it. I agree he'd probably announce it after the yr with no hoopla or anything. I doubt he'd even do it between the last regular season game and the bowl game to not have it be a distraction. That said just cause you and I and many others probably share similar takes on that who knows what the man might do. He could surprise us.

Alberts leaving Neb on a whim was just as hilarious as Frosts tenure at Neb being a dumpster fire to me. I don't think anyone saw that coming.

Wisky was the wrong job for him to try flipping an entire culture on. And he was the wrong coach for Wisky to think that he could maintain what they'd been while Chryst was there let alone prior to that. He wasn't going to turn them into PSU. They may have had delusions of grandeur that he could do what Cignetti is going at Indiana.

But that's just nuts and unheard of what Cignetti is doing. A part of me wishes Indiana would fall on their face. Another part of me wishes that they go on to win the whole damn thing. I do enjoy the chaos of it and how the national guys hate that they did what they did last yr.

Wisky is as much of a cautionary tale of what the post KF yrs could be like for us as Nebraska is. One bad HC hire can dig a hole that's tough to get out of. The only saving grace to it is with how fast rosters can turn over the right coach can put you in a great spot pretty fast. But good luck getting him
This right here^^^

People wishing for KF to be gone so they can run out and hire the next DeBoer, Frost, Fickell, etc. better be careful what they're wishing for.

Not everyone is pushing Kirk out, but he is 70. Kirk is still very coherent, and it isn’t a situation like the late stage Paterno, Bobby Bowden or even f*cking Joe Biden…where everyone around said person is propping him up. It is just a recognition that this shit isn’t going to last forever.

So yeah, if it all lines up where DeBoer gets run out of Alabama, and Kirk walks away at the same time…give me DeBoer over Levar Woods or Seth Wallace.
