Wisconsin D

I doubt BF was watching the Sconny game before our game. I think it was just a case of opening the playbook up more and Stanley regaining a bit of the composure he showed (at times) last year.
If Nate keeps his head screwed on tight, this weekend is going to be a heck of a game.

Ya its certainly not a guarantee, but I am naturally suspicious of coincidences. Is it coincidence that we opened up our offense with some of the very same plays that hurt Wisconsin 2 hours previously? I just smell smoke and can't help myself but to imagine it's from fire.

It would be more of a coincidence had the bubble/jailbreak screens not been a staple of pre-GD Iowa offense.

What I will say is the option that was run and kept by Stanley was all about putting it on film for the other defenses to think about.

The flair screen to Sargent was something we didn't even do with Wadley, yet we put it on film right after BYU did it 5 times for first downs against Whisky. Even if it wasn't deliberate it could be a pleasant coincidence.

True. But I am going with coincidence. If I am coaching and know that the play could exploit Sconny, I am not pulling it out in a game right before we play it. I would say if anything Iowa's coaches already identified Sconny's weakness and wanted to run it in a game.

Yeah, it couldn't have been the level of competition.
How's your median doing?

Ya I'm not saying that we didn't identify the play naturally before BYU used it against them, but we ran it 1 time and it was successful so we left it at that. Just enough for Wisconsin coaches to see it and say welp we got to prevent that.

Looks like I have a stalker....

Wisconsin is going to come to Iowa with a renewed sense of purpose. The illusion Wisconsin players believed from all the hype has been shattered. Now they know they have to be fully invested to win. Any margin of error Wisconsin had is gone.

For Iowa nothing has changed. From the beginning, the forth game has been the pivotal game. Iowa wins they control their destiny. Iowa loses and it's a race to second place in the West. There are no other contenders in the West except Iowa.

On Saturday Iowa will meet a 2-1 Badger team ranked in the top 15. Had they met a 3-0 #6 ranked Wisconsin it would have been better. It would have been better to win against a top 10 team vice a top 15 team that many will now feel was over ranked to begin with.

If their heads are truly in a complacent place, believing the hype, etc., they're in for a beatdown Saturday. That would have permeated through all of their off-season workouts, mental preparation, etc. That can't be fixed in a week.

I watch the Badgers often. They got off to a slow start against New Mexico last week. BYU matched up with them well, good speed and quickness on the perimeter. A trick play here and there. And a loss.

They can be as pissed off as they want to be next week. It might play right into our hands.

I hope so. They haven't faced a D like Iowa's yet. I think that will be the difference. If Hornibrook and the offense are forced to pass they have real problems. Northern Iowa tried to counter Iowa's D with quick throws. That worked some. But I don't think Hornibrook has the skill of UNI's QB.
