Wisconsin 2019 reminds me a little of Iowa 1997

In 1997, we had an all-world running back, a damn good receiver, and a decent defense.....but an avg, at best, QB and kicker. We absolutely boat-raced teams early on.....we avg'd about 56 points in our first 4 games while giving up only about 10 points. Then we ran into Ohio State and Michigan back to back, lost our QB, and ended up losing 3 of our last 4.

Wisconsin 2019 has an all-world running back, a damn good receiver, and a pretty salty defense....but their QB is probably avg, at best, and their kicker isn't too good at all. They've boat-raced teams early on. It'll be interesting to see this weekend how they do against Michigan (albeit, at home) and then see how they do in the stretch of at OSU, home to Iowa, and at Nebby.

My hope is that 2019 Wisconsin ends up resembling 1997 Iowa when it's all said and done.

If Wiscy's all world running back hurts his ankle, like Tavian Banks did against Illinois it increases the similarities in the two teams.

And Banks had an all-time highlight reel run against Illinois that day before he got hurt.

I'll take the reverse of Iowa-Wisconsin from 1997. In a game that I attended, the Badgers won 13-10 in a physical slog of a game.

It was Hayden's first ever loss to the Badgers (also a 10-10 tie in 1984 when Ronnie Harmon broke his leg and was lost).

You never know.

4 of their last 6 are roadies.

What happens if Taylor gets hurt? His backup is probably better than Randy Reiners, but still...

We were actually down to Scott Mullen, the third string QB, for the aforementioned 1997 Wisconsin game.

I remember a funny (but probably not at the time) incident from that game. Mullen wasn't too happy with one of his linemen, Chad Deal. After a play Mullen grabbed Deal by the face mask and drug him all the way back to the huddle. He may have slapped him on the side of the helmet a time or two as well.

Wisconsin is tough to pin down. They have looked great but against horrible teams. We'll find out quite a bit Saturday.

I would disagree with the bolded. They have 4 solid, possibly very good WRs (3 JRs & 1 SR) who have all been productive, with average at best QBs, in a run heavy offense.

Cephus, Taylor, Pryor, & Davis have all been more productive than B Smith over their careers. All but Pryor have been more productive than ISM.

Wisconsin has about as well balanced of an offense as I've seen from them. The difference is it usually involves a TE and kinda like Iowa, their TEs are nonexistent in the passing game and they're relying on WRs too.

Let's sure hope so. Right now, they look like the main challenge standing in our way in the West Division.

My gut is that Wisconsin is legit. I hope I'm wrong, but they just look dialed in on both sides of the ball.

Chryst may have the personality of wallpaper (actually, I like the guy), but he can flat out coach.

You should have seen him back in 1984 when he was trying to get into Platteville bars underage.

Anything but wallpaper personality back then.:D

Funny, when I look at the 2019 Wisconsin team...all it reminds me of is that I hate Wisconsin. It's all I got.

This week will go a long way in determining how good Wisky is...and if Michigan is as overrated as they appear to be.

I think Wisky is good and Michigan is overrated. So then the question becomes...How good is Wisconsin really, if they beat an overrated Michigan team. We won't know the answer to that until Iowa plays Michigan.

Sounds about right. After back to back weeks against OSU and Iowa they should be soft enough for an equally soft Nebraska team.

And if Michigan wins then Wisky is overrated, but we wont know until we play Wisconsin!

Wisconsin 2019 reminds me of Wisconsin (pick any recent year). But I will watch the WI-MI game, mostly because we have a bye week................and it will probably be raining

Main challenge? Lol. Wow. I’ve seen this one before. Just who exactly have we beaten again? Beat someone before making that statement. I promise you at northwestern and the purdue game not to mention Nebraska will not be easy and I certainly don’t consider any of them worldbeaters

Wisconsin doesn't need great quarterback play to be successful. Just serviceable.

.......who lit us up last year at home. Let that sink in and sicken you.
Will the next dickless wonder QB at WI do the same thing this year?
Oh believe me, I remember it well. That game was an aberration and a look at what Hornibrook could be. Remember what Stanley did to Ohio State last year? That’s what Hornibrook did to us, albeit on a smaller scale. Stanley’s ceiling is also higher IMO.
