Abdel Nader, a 2011,6'7'' wing player from Niles North HS,Nile Il. committed last nite to New Mexico. Iowa was among a number of schools who had shown recent interest in Nader as he has had a solid spring. He is an excellent outside shooter and can handle the ball...and is projected to grow to 6'9''...HoopsChicago had him as the #16 Illinois HS player in the 2011 class and compared him to Toni Kukoc... Northern Iowa had offered him. Very good student.

Seems like kids are committing earlier than ever. They play April AAU tournys and show good stuff, and schools offer and recruits jump on it.

2012 phenom JP Tokoto from Mennonimee Falls Wis,had a personal workout the other nite and Roy Williams,Calipari,Buzz Williams,Bruce Weber, flew in to watch...Iowa is recruiting him also, but not sure they were present. So many recruits, so little time,eh Fran?

JP Tokoto is a UNC lock. Only reason he hasn't committed is b/c Roy doesn't offer kids until they are Juniors

The more time Roy spends in Wisconsin watching Tokoto the less time he will have to raid the state of Iowa. The bad news is he will be back by the time Jok is a junior.

Alford originally hired an assistant coach that had a strong contact with an AAU team in Houston or was the AAU coach (can't remember) 3 years ago. That coach moved on to Villanova last year. Alford is no longer getting kids out of the Texas area and is now recruiting around like he did at Iowa. The players he was getting out of Texas AAU program were very good players. The players he is now getting seem to be mostly a lot like the players he was getting at Iowa. His recruiting may be starting to slide a little since he lost that coach to Villanova. Some of his recruits might still be pretty good but not like the kids he was getting from Texas. Course he was bringing Gary to Iowa and he is a very nice player so I could be wrong.

Isn't Alex Kirk a top 100 recruit for NM?
They got the transfer from UCLA also.
Nader is typical of a kid he would recruit to Iowa tho, I agree.
