Windy Saturday

Uh oh
When Kirk rolls out the now patented Armadillo offense, Hawks will be in for a dogfight with the Boilers.
Don’t mark down this 8-4 record just yet.

There's a lot of wind on this board.

You mean from those who are getting tired of hearing excuses and the boring style of play more times than not?

Yeah, Iowa should go 8-4, but could have very well had a shot At 11-1 or 10-2 worst case.

Do you think players get frustrated at times? They like to win the game.

I know. It's just awful and inexcusable. You should be mad as hell and scream out of the window that you're not going to take it anymore.
It is awful and inexcusable to have an offense this bad isn't it? In year 19 we can't expect any better? It's acceptable for this staff to be inept at recruiting playmakers? To hire an OC that has no experience with hundreds of other options that have experience? To have a punter that can't kick the ball any better than most high school kids, then keep trotting him out there over and over? To have punt returners who routinely let the ball roll 20 yards and give us crap field position constantly? Why not ask KF some of these questions during his presser? Are you afraid KF will black ball you?

Yes. I'm terrified.

He'll Rob, I'm not mad at all. It's almost laughable how bad the offensive philosophy is to many fans.

The good news is this is only college football and in reality it doesn't make a blip on the important things in life.

I'll still have my opinions or vent though and then move on.

Living out of Iowa now means I don't have to live and die with Iowa sports. It's not my livelihood thank goodness.

I admit I wasn't pizzed at the end of the penn state game.

Other than that I find myself laughing watching the same conservative offensive philosophy. As for the Ohio State game I'm still in disbelief the Hawks actually had the TE's lined up on the same side and threw to them.

Assuming they go 8-4 against a top 10 schedule, that will be borderline top 25 if not in it. That's not average or even close to average when you consider how close they were. U can't really reason with unreasonable thinking.

These questions you want asked.....just what is that supposed to do. Scare somebody? Make them aware that the punt team stinks? I'm thinking he already knows that.

Nature of the beast with expectations coloring it.
- Start of season --> gonna be average at best
- Beat ISU, very close loss to Penn State --> wait, they are good
- Lose to MSU, close to Illinois for a bit, lose to NW --> they aren't good at all
- Beat Minnesota (well :) ) and Ohio State --> Woo hoo, they are back!
- Lose to Wisconsin --> see, I knew they were average.

Let's see what happens next.

See Michigan State's season (I think they were expected to be average as well, right):
- Start of season --> average team (not as bad as last year, not as good as 2015)
- Win 1st 2 games vs Bowling Green/Western Michigan --> maybe good
- Lose to Notre Dame badly - they aren't good
- Beat Iowa, #7 Michigan, Minnesota, and Indiana --> wait, we are good again
- Lose in 3 OTs to NW --> Dang, we had a chance at a special season (again)
- Beat Penn State --> See, this is a good team, better than average
- Lose to Ohio State 48-3 --> This team is not good

I always love it and laugh when I hear someone say In year 19 like that supposed to mean something.. lmao!!

Rob, would you go or like to go to the 117 ranked doctor or dentist out of 120 graduating from their professional school and pay good money to them when you would want to go to the 20th ranked doctor or dentist.

I could go on here about the coaches, especially on offense, not having the team clicking early in the year and playing well for all 4 quarters of games, not perfect, but well and above average. But this year like many years we have had so many games, see the Ball State game in 2014 iirc, where the offense just sputters time and time again in the most basic respects. this year surprisingly it is the OSU game where the offense was crisp and clicked for all 4 qtrs.

Up to the Northwestern game the hawks offense seemed to be bad in the first half and then better in the second then the Northwestern game was the epitome of playing very well in the first half then laying and egg in the second half (because of what I say is giving jNW the wind to start the third qtr when they were also getting the ball which is not the smartest coaching move).

What a dumb analogy!!!! :)

So true... - I just think winning 8 games (if they do, is nothing to sneeze at with Iowa) and Iowa still has an outside shot at winning 9 games for the season. It's a long shot, and they haven't shown up in bowl games for a while, but it's still on the table. Iowa has only won 9 or more games like ...what ... 12 or 13 times in the history of school?

Kirk Ferentz has 6 of those, think about that.
