Win in 2012.... Or Else - lindyssports.com

Yeah I know, I heard that too but I just dont buy it. Maybe being so close to him its just easier to think who would want this guy? He has zero charisma he doesn't listen to anybody..both of those things just do not seem to me like the makings of an NFL coach. I am all for doing it your way but when your way has only consistently gotten worse over the last 4 years I think people take note. I do know this if he goes to the NFL he sure as hell wont be paid top dollar coaches money. He would rather press the mute button on a player and the NFL is a players league most teams are going to drive a single coach out before all their on field talent. As long as he isnt coaching the Bears or Hawkeyes I really don't care where he is.

Yeah, I doubt any AD or GM is interested in him because of that. They guy is crazy if he leaves Iowa right now anyway. Too much money on the table.

The Jacksonville gig had legs to it, but the rest of those jobs KF was supposedly link to felt like his agent doing his job by putting his name out there and the Chris Mortensens of the world gobbling it up.

Kurt is staying like it or not he showed loyalty to us therefore he gets the same... End of conversation.

By loyalty, you mean he was paid handsomely for his PAST accomplishments to keep him at Iowa. Yes, that it how salary increases and contracts usually work but als, if those same type of accomplishments are not met after said salary/contract is given, then no it is not the end of the conversation. Hell, maybe it is for you but not the rest of the fans. If he doesn't win next season it isn't because he deserves another season because of loyalty, it is because his buyout is so big. Nothing more, nothing less.

Too much money and 4-8 isnt that big of deal. Why go somewhere where you have to win and deal with all that stress :)

Wow, tell us how you really feel!

Well he sat there and said all this about his medical condition caused him to have trouble typing and then he blasts someone here for that.....I just put him on ignore. I'm all for some trash talk and razzing but if you cant take it don't dish it out...and he apparently can't.

I agree that there was something to the Jacksonville job, but that was a while ago. Now Kirk's agent would need to work harder than an ugly stripper to get any nibbles from the NFL or other schools.

Just because a name is mentioned on TV or Radio or the even more accurate "message board" doesn't mean he was an actual candidate. Agents are paid to get their clients name out there and thats what Kurt's does. Its to either find a better job or "secure the one they have". John Grudens name does the exact same thing yet hes still sitting at his cushy job where hes not accountable for the dumb stuff he says and stupid hair cut he has. I am not saying he has never been considered for another job but the only one he ever spoke about was the Ravens job where he went and "spoke" with them as a "courtesy" Kurt said. Why they would want his opinion is beyond me.....However TV gets paid to create speculation and drama and names float around all the time. Except for this year..... Kurt will never coach in the NFL if he ever truly had a shot that all went away with these last 3 years and his record against teams he "should" beat.
As a lawyer, let me explain how agency relationships work. The agent cannot and never does misrepresent the principal's position or alternative offers. I have NEVER gotten on a call and said "hey guys, my client really likes you and thinks you would be the best fit for the employee and customer base, but your price is a little low and your contract terms are a little aggressive and We've got 3 other bidders in front of you so you're going to have to move a little bit if you want this asset" unless it was 100% true. It just doesn't happen, therefore Kurt has had many, many offers.

The only thing he has to deal with the rest of his time at Iowa is one tough question from the media a season. I'd stay if I was him, then retire after my contract was up.

Let's face it, ferentz has got it made not matter what. He turns Iowa football around or he does not. Either way he comes out shining with the contract he has. His agent should be in the agent's hall of fame.

He only has to deal with the media's tough questions when someone actually asks them. We all know the media doesn't like to actually ask him the tough questions, even if they did he wouldn't give a real answer.

You are 100% right, no matter if he turns it around or not, that contract guarantees him a lot of money.

So Tubs got out of town ahead of the posse, maybe there is more to this article than we know. Maybe its already turning out to be eerily prescient. I also liked this part:

"Three of the following five coaches will enter their fourth season next year at their respective schools, and they better post a remarkable season or else they will be looking for another job in 2014. Remarkable means more than just a winning season to some of the programs, especially at USC and Iowa, which have a history of success":

Win in 2013 … or else | Lindy's Sports

From article:

2.Kirk Ferentz, Iowa. The embattled Hawkeye coach will reportedly return for his 15th season, much to the surprise of some in Big Ten circles. After finishing 4-8 this season in a down year for the Big Ten, Ferentz is 19-19 in his last three seasons after taking Iowa to the Orange Bowl in 2009 with an 11-2 record. Ferentz has produced only six winning conference records in his tenure at Iowa. “What I’m married to is what’s going to work, to give us the best chance to win,â€￾ Ferentz said in his season-ending press conference. That marriage needs help of Dr. Phil proportions if Ferentz wants to survive past next season.

So there was a time when HH wasn't owned by the darkside.
