Willie Atwood a bust?

It makes you wonder what the coaching staff will settle for in the spring signing period. Hopefully, they will recruit a great player this spring for next year. The guys they signed last fall all look like they have high ceilings. Personally, I think Fleming and Hutton will make the biggest impact next year.

Probably a JUCO or a transfer of some kind. Iowa really needs a big man to come right in and play next year.

Then look what Hogue and McKay have done for ISU, both from Indian Hills. It really does show what kind of a crap shoot JUCO's are.

I hope you are right as we have been hunton for a difference maker who can be a Fleming hot offensive player. :)

It really does not give me allot of confidence in Fran that we recruiting this guy in the first place.

His videos clearly showed a tweener forward who was mostly a jump shooter.

That is seriously the last thing this team needed.

Maybe Fran was just using him to get to Dickerson.

I'll go with Moss. Kid has been working so hard and has a very high ceiling.

Well a tweener forward who is mostly a jump shooter pretty much describes frans entire 2015 recruiting class as well as uhl and uthoff...so you might want to look away for the next few years

That why I said it was the last thing this team needed. We needed every other position but that.

makes me wonder what the hell he's thinking.

Well, I wouldn't look away next year. Uthoff, Woodbury, Gesell, Jok, and most likely Uhl > will be much better than the current team. The first four mentioned will all be better as well as Clemmons being a senior. I'm of the mind that Dickerson will contribute next year in a big way, by allowing us to get penetration for our shooters, Jok, Uthoff, and Uhl. Dickerson just needs to get experience at this level. He can shoot, he can drive...he just needs to understand how to manage the game and improve his defense. Not insurmountable.

Honestly, another year in the weight room is going to benefit Uthoff and Uhl in a huge way. Don't be surprised if Uthoff becomes a post option next year. He's got the fade away and he's getting stronger...for a smaller 3 or 4, he will be a handful.

Iowas starting 5 and guards should be pretty solid next year but theres really nothing currently on the roster to back the 3 thru 5 spots. After woodbury uthoff and uhl its pretty bare inside. None of those guys are solid offensive post players nor do they have great size to bang around. Uthoff is best in space or against a smaller opponent which he wouldnt see at the 4 or 5 spot

I think of combos like hammons and haas from purdue...iowa has nothing that can hang with that

There's not another team in the conference that has anything close to that combo and Hammonds will be gone next year, teams are playing smaller and smaller. We do need more depth up front but it's not like we're going to be facing teams with multiple 6'11 - 7 footers on a regular basis.

This. And the incoming freshmen may not be big but they're athletic. So they should get their share of rebounds and be hard for bigger guys like Hammons to defend 10 feet from the basket...which he will have to do if Woodbury isn't in the game. The mismatches work both ways.
