Eight University of Iowa wrestlers won titles at Saturday's William Penn Open in Oskaloosa, IA. All 15 Hawkeyes who competed in the tournament were wrestling unattached.

Winning titles for Iowa were senior Jake Kerr (165), juniors J.J. Krutsinger (133) and Vinnie Wagner (184), and freshmen Matt Gurule (125), Jake Ballweg (149), Michael Kelly (157), Mike Evans (174) and Bobby Telford (Hwt.). Also placing for the Hawkeyes were freshmen Charlie Joseph (2nd-141), Nick Moore (2nd-165), Walt Gillmor (3rd-165), Jeremy Fahler (184-4th) and Ethan Owens (6th-149), and redshirt freshmen Tomas Lira (2nd-184) and Joe DuCharme (4th-165).

For some reason 125 isn't completed but here are the brackets. Not much competition...

125 did a round robin instead of a bracket.

165 was an all hawkeye semi final. The finals match red-shirt freshman vs 5th year senior, Kerr beat Moore 8-4.

Just based on the score alone, Moore seemed to do alright. Why wasn't Nate Moore there, does any one know?

I was actualy hoping that Moore would've been closer than 8-4 to Kerr. In a college match that's not real close. Kerr probably had 3 td to 0 for Moore, just a guess. A lot of times the top studs coming out of high school can compete right away, but it doesn't look like moore is quite there yet.
